We had to cut a bunch of 2" extruded polystyrene (?) I believe basically..foam. we then took great stuff...ruined my gloves and sprayed around the seams. We also cut out and mounted our 12v Maxx air fan and the last pic is our homemade work station from diy saw horses and the ply we pulled out of the truck.
How did we get to here:
The abridged version. Part 1.
We left off right after insulation and long story short we clad everything in different thicknesses of Baltic birch plywood. Glued all wood to wood contact points, as well as staples and screws.
Some of this stage was beautiful, the kerf bent plywood that cascades down into wall panels. Some of it was brutal and hard to remember it would be smooth later.
We did decide to add reflectix to the ceiling and down the top 10” of the walls as another vapor barrier to help fight condensation. After that it was covered in two layers of 1/8” bb ply. The second later was to help even and smooth out some of the bumps in the first layer.
All of the of the small strips and jagged pieces would become a foundation for bondo, the wood specific kind. The next post will go into details about that part.
What I learned through this is that in hindsight there are better ways to do all of this. But in the end of this stage I did reach the place I was striving to reach. And we are super happy with the shape it has taken.
More to come.

WE HAVE BEEN KEEPING A SECRET!!!!! We purchased a travel trailer after Thanksgiving and we are currently renovating it into a tiny home on wheels!!! We wanted to wait until we finished sharing our news to certain people to post. We have longed for more of a "less junk, more journey" life. Life is so short and we really wanted to LIVE. I am learning! Moderate winds are supposed to be here tomorrow so I took Mrs. Free Lee's advice and put the awning in tonight! Last time she told me to I neglected to listen and was out side at 3 in the morning putting it away! 😂🤣 So long story short, listen to your wife! God made it so she sees things a little differently than you for a purpose!
Half of the TV wall done 👏🏼 The walls will all be painted white, they are discolored right now due to the primer!

Introducing LAYABOUT: The perfect place to relax.
The strategic placement of the windows means that this tiny home is filled with light. The large sliding door allows a seamless flow from indoors to outdoors as well as letting in light and fresh air in warmer months. The high ceilings create the illusion of space.
Open the louvres in your bedroom and allow the Summer breeze to flow through.
If, in the future, you need to extend your tiny home, an extra pod can easily be built and added to the original pod.

We’re staying on our hiking grind. I love having a dog that can get out and be active with me. I’ve always been an active person, so it made sense to get a dog that could run the extra mile with me. Lou is the perfect workout buddy :) I think we’ll be taking a hike daily from now on! 🏜
I forgot to show you our beautiful tiny RV valentine's setup! Also, we ordered this organic free-range meat to our home every month now so we are making more conscious choices on where the food is coming from in our lives. It's taking time, but slowly but surely we are becoming more grounded and conscious here. I am loving it.
On a totally different note, I am bringing play back into my life with serious intentions. It starts with drawing and drumming. Soon, painting definitely will be a part and essential oil fun and magic I am sure. But, for now, meditation, drawing, and drumming.
Yummy living when compassion meets action. .
This is for the people who crave the comfort of an open road and an unknown rest stop in the middle of forking nowhere. 🚐
This, is also for the people who are willing to hustle to make that reality come to life. 💭
You know the ones.
The ones sitting behind their laptop for 14+ hour days. 💻
The ones doing everything it takes for a life they love.✨
The ones who will not take no for an answer regardless of how far away it all feels. •••
I see you. 🙋🏻♀️
Actually, I am you. •••
Right now, adventure is consuming my mind.
A new mountain. ⛰An undiscovered trailhead. 🥾A campfire away from it all. 🔥
And if you need a reminder, cause I sure do....this is all worth it. The work. The tears. Everything it takes to do what you love. It is worth it ALL. 🌎
and, everything will always work out. ❤️

We’ll just unroll our back cushion so you can lay on our cloud-like memory foam. You’ll never forget it! This sofa bed can be configured into 9 different positions. Scroll through to see some of them.
Got to take some sweet photos of these guys in their AMAZINg tiny home! It was my first time even being in a tiny home and it was much larger then I thought it would be! They parked it in the most beautiful location and it makes it feel like you’re camping all the time- who would love that??

We’re feeling like we’ve reached a turning point in the building of our driveable adult fort. It’s warm, it’s enclosed, and it’s so fun to just hang out in. It’s easy to get work done at this stage because we can see the progress and the transformation into a home happening before our eyes with each move we make. So we want to keep moving. This project is so fun and we are soo excited. We’re finishing framing the walls now, then onto framing out the rooms and ceiling, and then we dive into the big adventure of electrical and plumbing! (By the way, we don’t have a line on a plumber to advise us on that process...anyone have any plumber friends they’d recommend?) STOKE LEVEL: HIGH.

So, my #vanlife journey started in August 2016 when I bought the van in New Jersey and drove it to San Diego to build out in the side of the street between jobs. I’d have to pack everything out of the van and everything back in to work on it. I Googled or just made up how to do everything and was okay learning from mistakes. My job then was okay money for the first time in my life (contract work 10-16 hours/day for $150/day) and had me traveling all over the world, but I was used to being frugal (aka poor - out of college I made $10k+ free rent working 80-100 hours/week at a group home) as my jobs counseling in shelters always had me working 2-3 other jobs to get by. I was also two years into remission from cancer and as long as I was healthy, I didn’t have much to complain about either and was just stoked to be having this adventure. I also lived on the deck of a friends boat for a few months for a few hundred dollars a month to save money. I didn’t go out, didn’t buy nice things, worked extra jobs between my jobs when I could and slowly transformed/grew a skillset to adapt to a schedule where I could do this life gradually more and more (i.e. learned adobe illustrator/indesign/photoshop, focused on writing boring blogs for companies more, writing copy etc, and would take any thing that paid with photography - shoutout full weddings for $500-$800 that were actually really good). Basically, I fought super hard to make it happen and took advantage of every opportunity I had around me (whilst dodging some security/police and being super friendly to the marina staff who thought the van was cool). So, my encouragement to people seeking out Vanlife is it’s possible. It’ll be easier for some than others (like now building it in a driveway is so nice even in the cold of winter) but even so, where there’s a will and a sacrifice that might mean doing what others won’t so you can do what they can’t, and a willingness to gut out the hard parts, there’s totally a way. #diy#tinyhome#tinyhouse#sprintervan#vanbuilds#vanlifediaries#vanlifemovement

Today we pulled the side door off 6 times to try to fix it. It weighs 100lbs. Definitely not a vibe. We chose to live in a vehicle because of the opportunities it gave and the intentionality it brought to our lives. Not the vibes. But I gotta say, when the light hits right there are some dank vibes out here from time to time.
Love seeing one of our tiny homes available for holiday letting at Cambroom Caravan Park. Check it out if you’d love to experience living in a tiny home and the gorgeous park complete with lots of fur babies on the Sunshine Coast. 🏡🌞

We know you all have unique ideas for how a Modal could make a difference in your life. 🏘
Fill in the blank in the comments! #livemodal
By : @thelivelisters Last few steps! We painted the lids of both benches and the bedside storage and sealed them so drinks and food can be eaten off of them without worrying about stains. The plan is to make some custom cushions soon to fix to the bench lids. For the kitchen shelves, we built custom sized shelves big enough to fit our climbing books and specifically 2 coffee cups deep, and also installed a retaining bar that can go closer or further from the wall depending on the size hooks we use! One of my favorite additions is the mountain woodwork above the sink. This was a brutally difficult process due to me having zero idea what I was doing but I’m stoked with how it turned out. In addition to these things, we threw up some homey decorations, a few more hooks for jackets and headlamps, and the trusty map. Although this is going to be an eternal work in progress, it feels like the prototype model is almost complete, just a few more details to go like some bedding and the cushions. Very much excited! #vanlifemood#tinyhome#theglobewanderer#vanlifestyle#vanlifers #outdoors

A spacious studio isn't an oxymoron. The floor-to-ceiling windows, bright finishes, and lofted beds (with skylights!) at Common Lake View easily transform a few hundred square feet into an urban oasis.
