Is this wonky of me?
First off, wonky is a real word and hoping for no judgement.
When I plan a trip I like to take care of the basics and when things are not known I consider it an adventure.
When someone else plans the trip, I want it actually planned and need all the details. 🤷🏻♀️ I love adventures but I guess I don’t like anyone else to control the situation without me knowing everything is all set, confirmed and discussed multiple times.
"Quite simply, I was in love with New York. I do not mean 'love' in any colloquial way, I mean that I was in love with the city, the way you love the first person who ever touches you and you never love anyone quite that way again.” — Joan Didion
Tomorrow, we will be returning to the chilly mornings of Toronto after a week in the sunshine of Barbados. Check out how we saved over $5000 USD on our vacation below: ⠀
A hotel on the west cost $3400/wk. ⠀
Our villa $900 US/week⠀
🏠Total Savings on Accommodations: $2500 USD⠀
Total for eating out would be $1680 US per week. ⠀
Our food and drink costs: $383⠀
🐟Total savings on food $1297 US ⠀
Gas: $50/wk and Car rental $230/wk. Our total transportation costs: $280⠀
Going by bus/taxi everywhere we went would cost: $352+⠀
🚘Total Transportation Savings $72 ⠀
✈️ Flights: $2397 USD during busy season Dec 15-Apr 15. ⠀
We paid $842 USD off-season ⠀
✈️Total Flight Savings: $1555 USD ⠀
💰Grand total saved on this holiday was $5424 USD. ⠀
We paid $2408 US for a one week holiday in Barbados all in. By traveling in off season, renting a private villa, cooking our own meals, and renting a car to tour the island, we saved thousands of dollars. Plus we only came with carry-on luggage which was free. Traveling cheaply can be done, you just have to determine your wants vs your needs. My husband and I are not into the tourist traps, like the catamaran drink cruises, or anything else that is geared to tourists. We much prefer finding our own path, meeting the locals, and getting a feel for the authentic Barbados. ⠀
If you want to travel, but don’t want to spend an arm and a leg to do it, learn to travel frugally using tips such as these. It’s a win-win because you get to see the world, but will also have money left over to invest! 👍 That’s my kind of scenario! 😁⠀

As much as I ❤ visiting new places, I am not a fan of the the actual commute 🛫. The journey to this destination including layover time is approximately 22 hours🤯. So while we wait for our connection, we are also connecting😘. It's really a beautiful thing to have someone to make memories with.
The people you meet...the friendships formed...this is why we travel!
We came from California, Michigan, Texas, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Oregon, Great Britain, and more. All ages, different ethnicities, political positions and religious beliefs, etc. I believe any differences we started with were lost, if only for a short time, as we all came together with our common love of travel and adventure. What a wonderful group of people!!💕 #notgoodbyebutseeyoulater#learnandgrow #travelasoftenasyoucan#seetheworld#5starww
Super excited for our upcoming vacation to _ _ _ _ _ _ 😎🌴🌊⛱ I always look forward to stepping away from the hustle and bustle of life and escaping to reconnect, rest and reflect. I'm eager to explore and experience the rich culture🌺🍍 @trinichildofgod I ❤ doing life with you!
With less than 2 weeks before our upcoming trip, I have been doing some research about the destination 🌴🥥🍍 #soexcited
Cant to wait to explore and learn about the rich culture🙃 whenever I visit a new place as much as I love doing touristy activities I love seeing and doing what the locals do. #wheninromedowhattheromansdo
The touristy activities tend to be pricey and I get a better sense of the culture and lifestyle when I chat with the locals and see the location through their eyes.
I HAVE FALLEN DEEPLY, AND COMPLETELY IN LOVE WITH ITALY.As it feels great to be home again, I did not want to leave but I know Italy will still be right there where I left it And I will be returning again one day i know for sure. .
I had the privilege to see the most breathtaking views while being in England and Italy. Most of what I saw, words don’t even come close to what I was feeling in that exact moment, whether it was walking the streets of ancient cities over 2000 years old, standing right in front of sculptures that towered over me with expressions unknown, or simply spending hours in the Vatican seeing Art I learned about in Art History class and touching the tombs of popes making history around the world. These are only just a few experiences out of so many from this particular trip and I was able to capture moments and memories; 1,913 photos to be exact of unique objects, sculptures, doors and things we do not get the privilege to see in our small town of Ridgeway. .
I have learned this year a pain I would never imagine I’d go through; a pain many can’t fathom or understand and I had lost all inspiration and hope; I feared I had truly lost myself. .
Seeing what I have seen on my trip has brought life and excitement back into my heart and I have never felt more inspired than I do now. Inspired to keep looking forward, inspired to do what’s in my heart, inspired to bring life back even if it’s something unimaginable. I have so much more ahead to share with everyone but time is the only factor. This year will be one I never ever forget and it has proven to me that strength has to be my only answer. .
There will always be silent tears and moments of darkness but when there is darkness there is always light somewhere you just have to find it in unexpected moments. So I say go and collect those moments, collect those
Memories, things will always be just things . Live your life the way YOU want to and remember to always be kind.
Since I took so many photos I will choose a handful of the most inspiring and post soon!❤️ #italy#england#twoweeks#clearmyhead#feelinspired#travelasoftenasyoucan#travel#breathtaking
So ever since I was a child I had a desire for travel but I always thought it was for people with a lot of 💵. You live and you learn right?! If you would like to travel, one of the ways to travel more frequently is to get a job at an airline, hotel or cruise ship or marry someone in the industry😉 #realtalk 🤭 They offer discounts, complimentary rooms, and in the case of an airline discounted flights to employees .
I have a friend that left her corporate Trinidad job to go work on a cruise ship to fulfil her desire to travel.😊 There are many other ways to travel cheap. More tips to come😎
I once thought travelling was only for people with a lot of 💵 but I'm here to let you know if you have a desire to see the world you can! It just takes some research and planning 😉 It is possible to travel on a budget #wherethereisawillthereisaway
Someone recently told me "if I knew travelling was this attainable I would have started sooner"
I will be sharing my thrifty travel tips so stay tuned 👌 feel free to share yours with me as well by commenting 👇
You start feeling the symptoms of Post Vacation Blues a couple days after you arrive at home...right?! 😔
When you’ve had a wonderful time and you are transitioning back to your normal routine you kinda miss what was. ☹
I wanted to share the 𝟑 𝐑'𝐬 to get over Post Vacation Blues.
𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐞: I love looking at photos and videos of my trip; it allows me to relive the experiences of my vacation.😎 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞: Cooking is therapeutic for me, so I love recreating items I enjoyed while on vacation. I like adding a Trini 🇹🇹 touch into it as it takes it to a whole other level.🏆 #channelingmyinnerchef
𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡: Start planning your next trip; it is never too early to start planning! 😉I am a firm believer in planning – only what gets scheduled gets done! Do some research and decide where you would like to visit next.🧳🌎 Let me know what you do to get over PVB by commenting below 👇
Who‘s in? ⭐️
I am not a small talk girl. I crave soul nourishing conversations and deep connections.
I love to talk about big dreams, visions, new ideas and first concepts. I would love to help changing the world to an even better place.
Understanding what lights you up and drives you makes me happy. Asking the right questions can lead you to amazing things.
Generosity, values, humility and kindness is so much more important for me than money, titles, degrees or superficialness.
With all those I am in a really good place spiritually. 🙏🏼
