* My step-grandmother first came to Seattle through King Street Station in 1952. As she tells it, she boarded the train with her mother and two sisters in Alexandria, Louisiana. She was only 12 or 13 years old and hadn’t seen anything outside the south at that point. The train took her and her family on a four day trip across the country where she saw mountains for the first time, face pressed up against the window for hours at a time. Her mom packed a box with jelly cake, fried chicken, sandwiches, and fruit for the journey. When they arrived at King Street, her uncle met them and took them to a nearby restaurant in the international district where she was amazed to taste Chinese food for the first time. The iconic brick and granite station first opened to passengers on May 10, 1906. It was designed by the same architects who later went on to design New York City’s Grand Central Station. Over one-hundred years later, my mom dropped me off at the same station after we made a quick stop at Uwajimaya, the large Asian grocery market just a couple blocks away. I stood in the light-filled passenger waiting hall, imagining all of the other stories of people who came to Seattle for the first time through King Street Station. • Photo inside King Street Station from my first Seattle departure on November 10th, 2018 #TrainGirlJournal

E tu? Sei mai stato a Stonehenge e dintorni? ti è piaciuto?

Old Sarum is an archaeological site halfway between Salisbury and Stonehenge.
It does not enjoy the same fame as the latter but it has fascinated us anyway.
this is the ancient settlement of the current Salisbury, with relics dating back to the Iron Age, up to the remains of the medieval castle and the ancient cathedral, which today gives Salisbury the right to be called a city.
If you buy the bus-tour ticket from Salisbury to Stonehenge the visit to Old Sarum is included in the ticket price and we assure you that it is worth a visit.
you will find yourself walking among ancient walls, verdant hills, and nice sheep.
You will enjoy a splendid view from above.
And if it rains, as often happens here in England, you could also admire a beautiful rainbow over the countryside as it happened to us.[continue in 1 comment]

#peaceout

LISBON CITY HALL
I love this photo as it symbolises where our experience of Lisbon started & it was one of the last places we visited too 👍
This is Lisbon City Hall in Praça do Município. To the left of this building is the Money Museum (Museu do Dinheiro) which is way more exciting than it sounds AND totally free to enter ✅
The Lisbon tourist office recommended we visit here and I’m so glad we took their advice 😀 I’m mentioning it here as I think it’s somewhere that might get overlooked by most visitors 🙁
It’s really interactive and so much fun for kids, but all ages will enjoy exploring here. If you want to see what we got up to check out my Lisbon highlight for all the action 😜
Daddy & @indiannaexplores actually went to the museum twice because they enjoyed it so much. On the second visit @brookersabroad and I had a drink in the square and played travel Connect 4. It was one of the most beautiful places to play a travel game and gave us a quiet moment to enjoy the location together.
SAVE this post so you don’t forget to visit the Money Museum when you go to Lisbon ✅ Have a great week everyone! Thanks for stopping by AND follow @zenassuitcase for more Lisbon travel tips
