Toledo is a perfect option for a one-day trip from Madrid. You can reach in 30 minutes by train (€13,9 one way) or 50 minutes by bus (€5,55). ⠀
It’s called the “City of Three Cultures”: Christian, Islamic and Jewish. In the past people of these three religions used to live together and today you can still visit places related to them. ⠀
My Toledo favorites were (in random order):
1. Synagogue of Santa María la Blanca
2. Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes
3. San Martín bridge
4. walking around the Old Town
5. walking on the opposite side of the river and admiring the view on the hill-perched town
Continuing about Budapest: ▪︎ Sights - we rarely look in TripAdvisor, try to walk more and watch and find out everything we need by ourselves. We really liked the promenade and pedestrian bridges between the two historically united towns of the capital (locals still conditionally divide the city into Buda and Pest). The city is also famous for its baths with healing water from hot springs, but even local middle-class people,
with whom we talked, they rarely go there because of the high prices. This didn’t interest us at all, because once we managed to find a real WILD hot spring with healing water (we will tell you about this soon ;), and after that, urbanized modern baths cause boredom.
Also there is very nice main tourist street near the promenade.
▪︎ Transport - the infrastructure in Budapest is developed very strange, as it seemed to us. It seems that all the transport, which a wide variety (buses, trolleybuses, trams, subway) goes in the same directions and at the same stops or doesn't stop everywhere. For example, a half-empty bus to an airport that runs a long route doesn't stop at many stops along the road. We had to walk about two kilometers, after we had waited half an hour on the bus stop, and in the end it drove by, after we understood that it don't stop on our bus stop🤦♀️ Not supposed to it 🤷♀️ Be careful ; )
▪︎ Security - frankly, when we went to Budapest, we expected that, as in any European capital, everything is not perfect, but at a high level. In fact, the capital of Hungary seemed to us extremely unsafe and uncomfortable. For example: a lot of people with no fixed abode and when you walking around the city, like nowhere else, you constantly hear the sound of the sirens of the rescue services and the police, and most importantly, in many buildings (almost all) the window grilles are installed right up to the third, sometimes fourth floor. And the locals said that the reason for this is a lot of thefts and robberies ... The most wierd is that many of the tied bicycles left in the city center have wheels unscrewed 😱
Take care of yourself ;) We always try to tell everything honestly and objectively, but you decide everything by yourself ;)
Before coming to Madrid I heard so many times that it offers much less than Barcelona. I must disagree! I loved the diversity of its districts, the chilling atmosphere and the abundance of great food options. ⠀
I walked around like crazy, I did 70 kilometers on foot and my feet hurt but it all so worth it 🤗

A gente não se dá conta de que as coisas podem mudar, até que elas mudam. Me fez não querer abrir mão de nada bom nunca mais.
