For the last two weeks or so, we adopted seven backpackers, and made some wonderful memories.
We learned how to make authentic crepes from the beautiful Gssik Psule , a Brittany local, gorgeous macrame with the super talented Anik Levac ..
Pablo Remy took over my kitchen and made pizzas on hot coals, and a Lemon Meringue pie to die for..
Valentin kept us laughing our arses off with his antics and cheesy bad nightclub fitness music, while Kevin charmed the arses off us with his green eyes you could lose yourself in and his mastery of the art of conversation..
Coco showed us he has a pulse every now and then, and cracked us up with his gorgeously infectious giggle when he actually understood something that was said in English, while Luke kept busy working out and hunting snakes in our chook pen.
The girls and I did yoga on the lawn and I got to indulge in cooking for more people than my husband..
Our gardens look amazing, as does our rearranged patio.
Anik and Luke and the boys have moved on to work, while Jess and Coco are here until mid May..
Having these lovely young people share our space enriched our spirits immensely.
This incredible group of people filled a gap we never knew we had, and I think we may have found our calling in adopting backpackers..
I was gonna post this picture with a sappy caption. 👉🏽But instead I’m gonna share about the beauty of forming new friendships
I read a study recently where most adults in the US haven’t made a single new friend in 5 years
45% of those studied said that they would love to meet new people if they knew how or weren’t so shy
Being the extrovert that I am-this made me sad for a number of reasons, & it made me think about the many people who have reached out/ tried to connect but I was too busy or didn’t have space in my circle for new friends
It also made me wonder how many of those people were introverts and were going out of their way to try to meet someone new and felt rejected- I need to & will DO BETTER
but mainly, i thought of the wonderful people I’ve connected within the last 5 years and immediately thought of these gals
They push me daily to be the best version of myself and are a constant reminder to pursue new friendships. Because sometimes those strangers become your best friends 🖤
Also, my friend @theblondebehindthechair wrote a fabulous blog piece on this trip. Go check it out!
One of those workdays, it started out good but ended on a not so great note. When that happens I like to look at my photos from some of the awesome places we have visited. Most days, like today, that takes me back to Switzerland. Talk the green in Grindelwald was so incredible! As were the snow capped peaks all around as well.
And just like that, I feel much better. Do you have a place you can think about that brings you back when you get frustrated?
