The harder the climb, the better the views 👣
Roy’s Peak has without a doubt claimed the title of our favourite hike in the world! Just look at those views 😍
We couldn’t have picked a more perfect day for it, we witnessed both nothing but clouds and then a few hours later nothing but blue sky!
How can one country have so much beauty!? 🤯
Perfect day today to sample the brand new “Chef’s Best” 👌🏻 menu in Market Kitchen... 😋😋😋😋

Oh what a beautiful morning view ✨ .

DAY 243: OTAGO CENTRAL RAIL TRAIL
Did we tell you yet that we love cycling? 😁😁. Well, we do, and given that we were so close to the wonderful Otago Central Rail Trail, it was only right that we cycled some of it.
This huge rail trail was a feat of engineering at its time, built in when New Zealand was in its gold 💰rush era! It functioned from around 1879 to 1990, and in 1991 the track from Clyde to Middlemarch was ripped up. What’s left of that section is a brilliant cycle 🚲 , walking 🚶🏼♀️ , horse 🐎 trekking trail that spans for miles!
We cycled just a small section but one of the most picturesque bits - the Poolburn Gorge viaducts and tunnels section. With numerous bridges 🌉 and super long tunnels to navigate, plus epic views along the ride - what’s not to love.
We forgot to take out head torches for the tunnels which was fun. Our mobile phone lights lighting the way instead...!
❓Have you cycled or walked any old rail trails? Where was it?❓.

This was my fifth time doing the Tongariro Alpine Crossing and every time I’m amazed by this scene. This is the first time I’ve ever seen the Emerald Lakes this green and it was incredible sharing the moment with friends.
The day was absolutely perfect.
Check out my stories (saved in highlights) of our entire day. Blog post coming soon.
Also, I want to say how crazy grateful we are for being able to adventure again. I wish it was the same for everyone across the planet.
