The embroidery traditions of Romania are completely swoonable.
In much of the country you will find examples in museums, perhaps on guests at a wedding or other significant life event.
A group of women meet regularly in Bucharest to learn how to embroidery their own traditional garments and wear them with pride.
In the far north east of the country they come out for Sunday best Church going every week and what a sight it is.
Each region has a different style and then there is personal innovation within that framework... you are showing off your skills so you can imagine the planning and care that goes into creating them.
Fine stitching and perhaps subtle bling from beads and sometimes sequins. Hmmmm lovely.
The Mighty Cascada Balea waterfall , took a long hike through the mountain to reach it but totaly worth it , plus the hike is more amazing then the waterfall ! Didnt make those photos due to climbing issues barely made it. 😅 Also i love waterfalls chase them in every country .. )) #transfagarasan#travelromania#waterfall_lover
After hanging around in the playground, visiting the Danube City Beach and watching young sailors practice in Izmail we started on our big day of driving.
The sun was out, the road was smooth 🙏 so all fine. We arrived at the Ukraine border with Moldova. We needed to enter Moldova, for 2 km only (!), to get to România. The longest 2 km ever!😂
Just as I was starting to believe crossing borders is fine (because so far it was always hassle free) we entered this one 🙈
A not so happy looking guy entered our van when entering Moldova. After a deep sigh when we said we didn’t speak Russian (actually pretty funny, but we did not laugh of course! 🤪) he said we had a ‘small problem’. Turned out he meant the plastic covers around our pasports 🤔 so I started taking them off. Meanwhile he asked me lots of questions. Did we have guns, drugs, vodka, pepper spray, medicine, cigarettes, Russian money, knifes, hasj, cocaïne? Eh..no we didn’t. He started kooking around, taking everything out while asking Alex the same questions again. He found our ‘woodcutting’ knife, but after looking fierce it was ok. He looked around some more and asked the same questions again. And then one more time.....maybe just to be sure? So difficult to hold myself down from saying: ‘oh Yes, actually now you ask me for the 5th time, I forgot! We do have a gun!’ 😂 But we managed to stay nice and polite. Then Alex had to wait for over an hour in line with our pasports and another guy asked him ‘Alex Petrus; you have guns?’ and since our vehicle registration mentions Jacky is a ‘truck’, he asked ‘what are you transporting?’, ‘My family!’ Alex said. 😜 He gave Alex the eye and forgot (?) to hand over Alex’ drivers license when returning all papers. Luckily Alex noticed before leaving the place.

Autumn's here and all i can think about are scented candles, pumpkin pie, colorful leaves and lazy afternoons spent in front of a fireplaces with a glass of wine or a cup of hot tea nearby.. 😍😍😍
What's your favorite place to spend a few days of autumn?! For me it has to be somewhere in the mountains where i can admire the foliage and then warm up inside, near a fireplace. Wine is not optional 😄
