Yoga changed my life. And not in a basic white girl kind of way ✨😅
After no exercise beyond a slow walk for over 2 years (see last post for the story), I was feeling pretty shitty about myself. About my body and my confidence. Let’s just say my mental health was the lowest it had ever been and hopefully will ever be again.
A friend invited me to yoga and I found it was the only exercise that didn’t hurt me. Some poses I couldn’t do, but I found yoga was all about listening to what you needed and acting accordingly.
It was also about the mind, about breathing and letting go. This helped, but it was the strength that built gradually over time that saved it all. I’m not religious, I accept but don’t follow. But that doesn’t matter in the yoga studio. It’s peaceful, it’s a work out without feeling like a work out, and it helped my push myself in ways I didn’t consider before (holding high to low plank is a killer for your arms). I definitely credit yoga with getting me back to running. The strength it built in my muscles and my mind let me get back to the thing I loved most.
Even though I’m now back on the treadmill and not in pain, I still practice yoga regularly. It grounds me and helps me remember where I started and how far I have yet to go.
Have you ever tried yoga? Did you like or is it not your thing?
Russian Street, also known as Tuanjie (Unity Street), is located in the northwest corner of Shengli Bridge not far from the Dalian Railway Station. It is mainly a pedestrian street with more than 20 restored Russian architectural style buildings from the 19th and 20th centuries. Its total length is about 500 meters and were lined up by small shops, mainly selling Russian specialty goods and stuff.

The future can be so scary, because you have no idea what will come and what obstacles you’ll have to face. On the other hand, I find it so exciting, because of the same reason. You don’t know where you will stand 6 months from now, can you image in 6 years?
But what you do know is that you can works towards your goals and aims and all the things you want to do “someday.” If you want a stronger or leaner body, go work out and push yourself on days you can. If you want to improve your health, go eat more plants and less processed food. If you want to start your own business, go put your focus there for the next six months.
The truth is, you can’t control the future, especially not by worrying about it. But you CAN do whatever lays within your control to get there.
This past year, I’ve done so many things that where on my “someday list”. I went to Paris and saw the (twinkling!) Eiffel Tower, I went to a concert from Shawn Mendes and attended my first wedding ever, I ran through buildings with a running contest, I walked my first fashion show, I participated in the Ramadan for one day, I supped for the first time, and the list goes on. And now I’m about to have one of my biggest dreams fulfilled too, but you’ll have to wait a little longer to find out what that is🤫😉 Some things happened because of my own actions, others “just” happened. But there was no controlling or obsessing anywhere. It just happened, partly because of my own efforts, partly not.
So long story short: go with the flow of life. Do whatever is in your own reach to fulfil your dreams and genuinely believe you can (because you CAN!). But don’t try to control the future, because whatever happens, happens. And that will be okay. And you will be okay. Just do your best, than the rest will follow.
Happy Tuesday, everybody! 😄🌟
I promise, this is the last Zagreb photo (for now). But I was told that I don’t show much of my town so I wanted to hook you up 🥰🥰🥰 The landmark picking in the background is Zagreb Cathedral of the assumption of the blessed Virgin Mary. It is most monumental sacral building in neo gothic style southeast of the Alpes. It was formerly known as St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Today, the Cathedral is dedicated to the assumption of Mary and to kings Saint Stephen and Saint Ladislaus .
Fun fact: The Cathedral is the tallest building in Croatia and its organ is among the top ten finest organs in the world.
What’s the most famous landmark of your hometown? What is it famous for?

“I am sorry”.
When James and I travel, we try our best to get off the beaten path & explore spots that might not be so well known.
Before visiting this beautifully secluded place, we had done a fair bit of research & unfortunately, heard people say there was often ‘local mafia’ around & they could get pretty rough - demanding random sums of money for anything & everything.
Bearing this in mind, James & I arrived nice & early, ready to pay what we thought was reasonable, but couldn’t find anyone to approach. So we continued on, arriving at the cliffs just as the sky started to light up – gifting us one of the cloudiest sunrises we have seen in Bali. With the fairy-floss sky above & the playful dolphins below, we were totally lost in the magic.
After being there for an hour or so & just putting away the camera, we saw the sun break through the clouds & light up the cliffs behind us. Of course, being us, we instantly began to unpack the camera.
And this is, where I felt, for the first time in Bali; uneasy. A local man marched over to me, grabbed me by my fancy hair-tie covered wrists & began shouting prices in my face. He said we had to pay for flying our drone (which had stayed in our bag the whole time due to the dolphins) and ordered $50AUD. No hello. No how are you. No nothing.
I yelled out to James (who was on the other cliff) that I wanted to leave, & told him not to worry about setting up the camera. The man then marched over to James & demanded the money from him. James saw my face & knew I wasn’t feeling too comfortable, so he quickly packed up and came over (all the while, having the man right on his heels & yelling many different prices we ‘had’ to pay).
And then, as I picked up my bag & turned to leave, I was surprised beyond words.
The man put his hand out to me & said “I am sorry”.
In the end, we paid more than what he had asked. Because it was never about the money.
