Who wore it better?
The Goroka show was an amazing festival where tribesmen come from all around the dense and remote Jungle highlands to display their ceremonial attire. Some tribes didn’t even make contact with the outside world until as recently as 2011, and it’s believed there may even be other tribes in the highlands that have yet to be discovered. We were fortune enough to have one of the tribesman paint our face, and we were honored.
Our "tribes" often evolve over the years reflecting the growth that we have gone through. Over the last year I have let go (even blocked) members of my "tribes" for my own mental health. I let go of disingenuous individuals who brought out self-doubt and self-hate into my mindset. I allowed myself time to reflect on the relationships that I considered amazing for years and reflected on my role in the demise of those relationships. The self-reflection allowed me to identify boundaries for future relationships as well as define what I truly desire in my "tribes". https://jokinglyjodi.com/tribes #yourvibeattractsyourtribe#tribes#love#family#community#peace
I was fortunate enough to visit a Maasai tribe. They’re fearless warriors who used to hunt lions, they have now changed their ways and help protect the very species they used to kill. They do tribal dances in which the men jump as high as they can, whoever jumps highest gets more wives. I was impressed with the kindness with which they have received us and their willingness to be photographed. I’m forever humbled by Joseph’s warmth, who introduced me to his family and invited me inside his house which only has one tiny window so everything inside is completely dark. In the end he gifted me the tools to make fire and I promised to come back with something from my country. I hope to be able to fulfil that promise very soon!
I have been travelling many places, love to spend time with local peoples and tribes is always something I get so much of hidden knowledge of their lives, many things to learn from them, simple life in nature with basic need and just happiness on the face, we are still so much behind that stuff,
But what I know after all these years, they enjoy true happiness with nature. 🙂

Man resting in temporary shelter made of false banana leaves (Phenakospermum guianense) during travel.
While I was with this group seven different locations were occupied: three permanent houses, one semi permanent shelter and three temporary camps. The houses and camps were spaced at a distance of between one and three hours walking time, so that the group was never on the move more than half a day and the rest of the day could be spent in harvesting, collecting, hunting or resting. The longest period of settlement was 12 days; the longest period of travel was 4 days.
