For some reason I always feel like surgery morning is like the first good bye... Because I know in a few short days Betty will be leaving my home for good and hopefully at the cafe for a short time until her final goodbye as she leaves for her forever life I have prepared he for. One of my rituals of which there are many with foster babies is treating surgery day like their first day of school. When they come back tomorrow it’s like they’re home from college for spring break & soon it’s graduation. As you can see, Betty is gonna be just fine at school! She’s confident & will make a lot of friends! Join me in wishing all our spay & neuter babies luck today, and remember now is the time to apply to adopt them!! #adoptdontshop#catsburypark#fosteringsaveslives#catcafe#spayneuter#spayneutersaveslives#tuxedocatsofinstagram#tuxedocat#betty#parrotcat#tuesdaythoughts
I was shelter cat. This week is #AnimalShelterAppreciationWeek , which recognizes the shelters providing care and bridging the gap to adoption for millions of abandoned and stray animals. Back in 2015, I was an un-neutered, stray boy who had never had a home of his own before being rescued and taken to a shelter. They estimated me to be 2 years old then and although I’m not sure about telling time and years, I can say that my life before coming to the shelter and being adopted was hard! After living those years on my own and scrambling to survive, boy do I appreciate living safety indoors with my folks and having regular food, warmth and love!
Lots of folks see stories about pets in need and respond with comments on Instagram and Facebook like, “if only I lived there, I would adopt in a heartbeat.” I know those stories of abandoned, abused or special needs cats tug at your heartstrings, but I guarantee you, there are deserving cats right there in your city/immediate area who need you! You can make a difference right where you are by adopting that senior pet whose owner can no longer keep them; or that cute kitten with FIV; or the one with three legs; or the scared, abused animal with trust issues; or really, any of the many needy pets without a home.
If you cannot adopt, there’s still lots you CAN do. Remind your family, friends, co-workers and acquaintances to spay and neuter their pets because preventing overpopulation is the key to solving animal homelessness. If you can, donate to local shelters and organizations working to improve the quality of life for animals. Foster for your local shelter - they always need more temporary homes for cats and kittens. Volunteer. Share our stories.
I encourage you to get acquainted with your local animal shelter and learn how you can help in saving the lives of animals. Who knows, you just might end up with an amazing kitty like me!
Hi, everypawdy!! We’ve got twice the cuteness to share with you in today’s feature!! Meet @oreoandtrapper ❤️ Here’s a little bit more about these best buddies & tuxies! (Oreo is a traditional tuxie & Trapper is a ginger tuxie!): Hi all tuxedo friends ! We are Oreo and Trapper and live with humans in Canada. Two of our younger humans are in university now so we are living in an empty nest ( haven’t seen any birds yet!). I’m Oreo (age 7 years). I was in a shelter two separate times as my owners could not take care of me but I know 100% I’m in my furever home now. I’ve been here for a year and luckily Trapper joined our family 6 months ago. It’s great having a brother and tuxedo friend 🧡🖤 I’m Trapper (Trapper John). I was a colony cat and luckily my rescuers caught me in animal “trap” when they saw I had wounds and infections on my paws. My foster humans took care of me for months until my wounds were healed and I was adopted into my furever home with Oreo (my best pal). Oreo likes to nap more than I do but because I’m 3 years old I make sure he stays active .
Check out their page & give them a follow to keep up with their cute pics and adventures!
