Snowy, soggy, slushy, slippery, soupy, sleety, soaked, etc. Etc. But a few fish were caught! #upnorth#icefishing

One of my favorite things about creating handmade jewelry is the hunt for the stones.
I get to escape from my studio and bench and get outside. I love that each day is different and not knowing what to expect.
Lake Michigan sure knows how to keep things interesting. When there’s no wind and you think it will be calm, only to get slapped by waves all day. When I pull into our hunting zone and see the lake is calm and I run out to the shore only to see there’s no clarity or high tide or low tide. Keeps us on our toes and really makes us work for those stones.
You would think hunting all the time would get old, or the excitement of finding your millionth Leland Blue would wear, but it doesn’t. I still light up and smile ear to ear when I find a Leland Blue or Petoskey Stone. Each stone is a new opportunity to share my creative outlet with you all and showcase Michigan’s finest.
Hand-hunted stones is a huge point of pride for us. I love doing what I do and love knowing where our stones come from, hand-hunted from the shores of the Leelanau Peninsula.
We all have ability. The difference is how we use it.

Happy Monday! I have been working on some smalls for
our vacation rental home, @surrey_lane_cottage . These cutie chickens are going in the laundry room. They have been spruced up with lots of #anniesloanhome paint colors and Clear & Dark Waxes. They will fit in nicely with the other painted chickens in the room. I buy my Chalk Paint® products @thenandnowconsignment (open Thursday-Monday! 🖌🎨💕). Have a great day!! #chickens #painteverything #happymondayeveryone
Being a primary school teacher for these past few weeks have not been easy I won't deny that but it has also been a very interesting experience.
If anyone had told me I would teach primary school, I would have said it's not my portion and rebuked the person but here I am, happily teaching little children.
It gives me joy to enter the class and look at their happy faces as they greet me and call me Aunty. Trust me, it's not all happy moments, there are times when they'll push you to the wall and you'll have to either punish, beat or forgive them.
What I've learnt is that when teaching children, you have to have a lot of patience and love because they can be very difficult to handle especially those that may not be entirely interested in school work but may be interested in other things like drawing, singing, poetry etc.
You'll have to help them understand the importance of education and also help them find a balance with their talents.

Love the excitement when he sees me catch one! Give him a few more years and he’ll be taking notes. #HappyFourth#UpNorth

Throkkoowback to one of my first crappy bows and my old stopping grounds woods. The archery shop I bought this bow at went out of business. I Used to roam these woods every single day... I haven’t been there in over a year. so much change, especially this past year. Been to a lot of new places, met a lot of good people, discarded a lot of crappy people. Faced a lot of realities about myself that I didn’t understand before or was in too much denial to realize in the first place. I Never made a 2020 post for a new year... because every day is the beginning of a new year, isn’t it? We are always changing, growth is optional.
Ok done here. Busy week ahead, going to go shred on the bike today and get the steam out. Didn’t travel with my bow because it’s $100 to take aboard the plane and I’m to cheap to travel with that and a bike which is considered oversized luggage. Riding gets all the pent up energy out anyway. 🚲 🏹 🤔
I took this photo on December 1st while steelhead fishing thinking that we were in for a long winter. So far not the case but it looks like winter may have finally decided to stick around. Cheers to cold hands and snowy adventures!
