⠀🍁Did you know spending time out in nature actually lowers blood pressure and stress levels? It’s scientifically proven, look it up! I’ve been feeling like I really needed some alone time out hiking so yesterday morning I headed out to the gorge as the sun came up and was met with beautiful fall colors and left feeling completely refreshed.

Approximately two months ago, our community suffered a great loss with Ann Nelson, one of the Administrators of the Washington HIkers and Climbers page on Facebook, died in a hiking accident. In past days, one might come across a letter or note from a deceased loved-one, and experience the phenomena of being spoken to by someone who had left this life. In the world of social media, where words and thoughts are more easily "stored," these occurences happen to some of us more frequently. Rarely does more than a day or two pass by when the moderators and administrators of the WHC page do not hear from Ann, by way of comments and notes she made regarding various subjects, which still appear on our back-channel pages, even though she is no longer with us.
Today, a number of the WHC administrative team, along with a few family members and close friends, paid tribute to Ann by leaving notes in a Register we established above Lake Ingalls, the site of her first hike in Washington with her husband,, who also accompanied us on this trip. We invite future visitors to the site to share in Ann's love of the outdoors by leaving their comments --- about her or about the hike --- in the Register, which can be found in the rocks above the lake, just as one approaches it on the trail.
I know that I've been messed up
You never let me give up
Dark times, you could always find the bright side
I'm amazed by the things that you would sacrifice
Just to be there for me
How you cringe when you sing out of tune
Yet it's everything
So don't change a thing
When I'm with you
I'm standing with an army
Absolutely love this Ellie Goulding song. So I pulled a couple of lyrics that remind me of Haley. Even though she doesn’t cringe when she sings out of tune she just goes for it haha
She’s a person that doesn’t always tell you to want to hear but she tells you what you need to hear - God’s truth. With love, compassion, and it’s usually hilarious. I may not be able to always stand with you in person but so thankful for Facetime. Thank you for loving me so well even though we’re 4,373 miles apart. -
As I was walking home the other day I just kept singing the lyrics, When I'm with you
I'm standing with an army, over and over again. I know this isn’t a Worship/Christian song or anything like that but I do believe you can find God in all things. It didn’t only remind me of one of my best friends, but faith in Jesus.
The beautiful thought that I’m always with Him, that I’m never alone, I don’t have to fight all my battles, I don’t need to worry about what's to come, that I can just rest and know I have an army surrounding me wherever I go. “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
When I’m with you, I’m standing with an army.
Who do you stand with?
Who do you stand for?
happy monday! i wanted to bring it back to one of my favorite spots over the spring. i always love being at waterfalls right when all the snow is melting as it creates heavy, rushing waters that you can’t get anywhere else.

It was one of those perfect days where time stood still and nothing existed outside of each beautiful moment.
Want to get outdoors while giving back to the health of our Puget Sound, salmon, and southern resident killer whales? We're just one week out from the #OrcaRecoveryDay ! Conservation districts and partners are celebrating across the state on Oct. 19 with stewardship events that give back to local streams and rivers by planting trees, pulling weeds, and more. Visit the link in our bio to find an event near you. ⠀

Misty Mt. Baker Mornings (only slightly mad at Baker for breaking my alliteration)

Things have been pretty crazy around here this week! We’ve been packing non stop, and are hoping to make the big trip sometime in the next few days. I think Suki will be shocked to see all the fresh snow in our new city... but we are hoping it melts. It’s too early for winter! 😸❄️

Awesome shot that I absolutely loved. The framing on top combined with leaves on the bottom really added to this image for me.

Two months ago I couldn’t run one mile to save my life and yesterday I ran 6 miles, I had to walk some of it and I’m ok with that. I’ve been training for a 10k I’m running in Feb and a half marathon in the spring. So I’ve been a little busy and haven’t shot in awhile. Took a break to explored a little waterfall I haven’t seen in awhile. It was a good day!
