The late great MLK’s words resonate now more than ever. The Tyrant-In-Chief has radicalized this nation in a way that was inconceivable just a few years ago. Make no mistake about it we are racing backwards folks. If we do not defeat this monstrosity this November it might just be over for the American Experiment. That is not hyperbole. We are fighting a battle for the soul of this nation and the outcome is still far from certain. Let us lead with love and fight the hatred that is enveloping our nation before it’s too late. Shout out to the prolific local artist Andrea Arroyo for another searing image that perfectly delineates what is at stake.

During the 1960s Martin Luther King, Jr have versions sermons from the pulpit of Riverside Church (including one a few weeks before his assassination in 1968). And what a pulpit it is. Riverside isn’t your typical church. An interdenominational (all types of Christianity are welcome), interfaith (all religions are welcome), interracial (every is welcome), Riverside was built in 1930 as an idea conceived by minister Harry Fosdick and John Rockefeller, Jr as a church for all. In the 1920s this was as radical as you could have gotten. I could write about this Church for days on end, and no limited Instagram caption will ever so it justice. Uptown has many gems, both architectural and cultural, that are often neglected because they don’t fit the “pretty/influencer/glossy” hipster formula of the algorithm. But as anyone north of 125 will tell you, never sleep on Uptown- because this is where Manhattan’s real heartbeat can be found.
