Nous sommes tellement confiné qu'on a perdu les clés de la voiture (enfin, Eléonore a joué avec et on ne les retrouve plus), donc obligé de prendre le van.
Un beau soleil, un joli démarrage après 20 jours d'arrêt, un bruit de vieille mécanique en fond sonore, mon nouveau tatouage fraîchement cicatrisé réalisé par @renelle_tattoo, la combinaison parfaite pour prendre un bon bol d'air avant de rejoindre la civilisation.
Slaughter House Customs UK Rig No.3...so what does £800 buy you nowadays?- Well a T25 still, believe it or not!. Our 3rd T25 staff car, has now been with us for 2 months.🥳 1st job was to get her running. SUCCESS- new service,and dizzy refurb kits- courtesy of the 'Grand Crew' over at Heritage Parts Centre🤝.Now runs like a dream. We even found a old Tesco carrier bag invoices going back 30 yrs. Turns out the ole’gal has her original 1.9DG engine, with ONLY 40K miles on the clock-not too shabby for a 35yr old Dub right?!.🙃👍 So its onto the bodywork…We’ll keep you all up-to date as the project continues. 😉
I haven’t really shared much of my interior space with you. It’s my living room, bedroom, kitchen, and office (and sometimes bathroom in emergencies). I typically find a coffee shop to steal WiFi from, post up for a few hours, and work from there, but with everything closed, I’m relying on mobile hotspot and my trusty swing-table. With 200 watts worth of solar power, I can stay plugged in all day without a second thought, powering my ancient drawing tablet with no problem.
If there’s one thing I miss from my house-dwelling days, it’s having a more comfortable workspace. Do you work from an office on wheels? What are some of the biggest challenges it’s caused you to face?
Driving through the Jungles 🐆 of Nayarit, Mexico with the Syncro’s 2.1 humming along like a sewing machine and the old Blaupunkt tuned to 104.9FM. And don’t them @speedhut gauges look like the bees knees 🐝 ?! Today I’m gonna work on wiring up the oil pressure gauge. I need to run some wire from the sender in the engine bay up to behind the dash. Then the last thing I’ll need to do is to try to figure out why my fuel gauge stopped working. It worked fine for a day and then quit on me. Hoping it’s not the sender, but I already checked the grounds and the wiring at the dash :/ 🚎🌬🇲🇽 ********PSA: We are in isolation on a Sailboat, you can relax now, despite this, it will sometimes be necessary to GASP, leave the boat, you know for food and stuff. In Mexico we don’t have amazon fresh food delivery and all the conveniences that we have in the states. We’re all doing the best we can and our situations are all unique. (Yes there is a lot going on here) This unit will be for sale on an Ebay Auction in the next couple of days, and its getting its photo shoot tomorrow. Big THANK YOU to Kevin for the professional input on this unit and helping with the Video, Chris Thompson for his TDI Diesel input, All the Guys at our shop, Zac, Gideon, and Matt, as well as Jay and Joseph Jb Niewiek for all of their input and support as well. The #VolkswagenType2 ( #T3 ) was the third generation of the #VolkswagenTransporter and was marketed under various nameplates worldwide – including the #Transporter or #Caravelle in #Europe , #Microbus in #SouthAfrica 🇿🇦 , and #Vanagon in North and South America.
During the 1980s, the U.S. Army and Air Force in Germany used T3s as administrative (non-tactical) vehicles. In military use the vehicle's nomenclature was "Light Truck, Commercial". #Porsche created a version called #B32 in a limited edition. The van, based on the luxurious Carat model, was equipped with the 231 PS (170 kW) 3.2 liter #Carrera engine and was originally developed to support Porsche's testing activities in #Algeri 🇩🇿 . Ten of these were built, with some sold by #Porsche to special customers. Porsche themselves also used the Porsche-engined bus to transport staff rapidly.
There was one more six-cylinder engine, used in the #VWOettinger#WBX6 . The development of the engine was originally contracted to Oettinger by #Volkswagen ; it was derived from the regular Wasserboxer and meant for projected use in the T3. When VW abandoned the project, #Oettinger bought the rights to the design and put it on the market.
The T3 has a large cult following, especially the Westfalia camper version, and many owners have had the VW engines replaced, due to their reputation of being underpowered and unreliable, particularly the Wasserboxer. Subaru engines are one of the most popular engines to install to increase power and reliability, VW Rabbit diesel engines, Golf/Jetta petrol engines and Ford Zetec engines.Five-cylinder Audi engines were used in South Africa on higher-trim vans after the Wasserboxer engine was discontinued in 1991, until the T3 was discontinued in 2002.
