Our next project thanks to @vintage_franglais@_vintageandflowers - making a bench perfectly cut to size with these vintage garden chair ends (proper name?!).
Getting wood cut for the seating area, but we'll be on a while removing and repainting these.
We call this room the green room.
Because it’s green.
1. digging up the floor to lay a concrete slab and
2. underpinning the internal walls and
3. Opening up the fireplace ready to receive a @chesneyslondon wood burner and
4. Replacing the rotting sash windows with slimline double glazed sash windows @farrowandball#wimbornewhite
We haven’t done much in here.
It’s currently a bit of a dumping ground and even still has the green curtains hanging from the previous owner.
Can you what this room is going to become? And can you guess as to what the white lines are on the floor? And why?
The winner of this completion which is in no way affiliated to Instagram, wins my usual prize of a telepathic winners hug. Good luck!
We've got to figure out what color to paint the bootroom, the dining, and the mantle around the stove, so I painted some panels with testers. This is harder than I thought 😱😱😱 #diy#victorianhouserenovation#painting # choices

I was trying to find some photos that didn’t include a huge amount of crap hidden away in some corner of the room, or something on the floor and evidently the only way that was possible is for the house to be empty 😐
Apart from a couple of bits of art hung up on the walls and our old furniture from the flat being in the house nothing else has changed from this image. It’s still the weird shade on the walls and the metal lampshade is still in the living room 😬
I’ve had some amazing ideas on this space and I’ve finally convinced liam to let me plaster over the fireplace in the living room! - keen to know what you would do! .
What a week. The world feels a little alien right now and I’m trying my best to inject positivity into my life where I can. The house for me is a wonderful distraction and is a great hobby to have when I need an escape. It’s made up of completely frivolous things that have no impact on the real world but keep my busy brain focused and occupied. This week we’re getting some repairs done to the summer house (that’s me painting it all weekend if the rain will stay away!), a new window in the conservatory, plus eeeeekkk, the most exciting of all, we have a new unit which has gone into the pantry which promises to hide all my junk neatly away... a dream for a messy girl like me!
Doing lots of dreaming at the moment as I can’t do much else thanks to the bump! I want every space in the house to transport you to magical places, across time and space. This ‘Dream Box’ from Lulu Lytle is just a perfect example ❤️ Room by Lulu Lytle - Co-Founder & Creative Director of @soanebritain

It’s stopped raining, but it’s still cold and miserable so I have no excuse not to resume cleaning duties. 😂
This is my youngest daughter’s bedroom, and although @farrowandball Stiffkey Blue may not be an obvious choice for a teenage girl’s bedroom, Rose absolutely loves it, and it perfectly lends itself to having a lazy morning in bed.
Getting geared up to tackle this door as googling approximate costs for restoring it were ridiculous
First up is sanding the door and frame. Normally I detest sanding but the hubby, Craig, has just bought a new hoover to attach to his tool so hopefully it'll be a dust free job
Then we'll need to replace the putty outer frame
Then the fun bit starts. New glossy paint job. New door furniture. New doorbell. New wall lantern.
And I'm really looking forward to having the new downpipe fitted. It might not seem much of a biggie but I am sooo excited as I hate that awful grey one
Still deciding on the door colour 🤔
Narrowed it down to either red, green or just sticking with the current colour and opting for teal
Time to get some paint samples
After a poorly baby meant we couldn't do work over the last week we've just had the hot glue gun out to start striping the banister.
It's so satisfying watching it bubble! And actually feels like a task we can do a little of on an evening most nights (although maybe not nights with wine!) It's going to look so nice when we're able to strip this back, sand it and varnish it, removing the mixture of wood and dark red peeling paint. The idea of restoring this house, removing the 1960's styling and making it our home.
I’ve been absolutely terrible at taking pictures so far, but these are the estate agent pictures of the property exterior. I loathe the magnolia paint. Hopefully one day I will have it freshened up (K-rend dreaming😍). The back garden is such a decent size for this type of property and it’s flagged which means low maintenance👍🏼. I’ve already covered it in pots due to furlough boredom 🌻 Jobs in my to do list
1. Paint front step and wall
2. Wooden blinds for front windows
3. New fence panels (I tried to paint the current ones and they’re beyond salvage).
My Welsh dresser has finally arrived! I ordered it in at the end of January and due to coronavirus and a rubbish courier it’s taken forever to get it here! Worth the wait though and I can’t wait to upcycle it 😍 .
HAPPY WEDNESDAY! 🙂
Exciting news in that it looks like we finally have a date for the log burner to be installed! 🙌🏻
It definitely isn’t the weather anymore to be using one but it means this wall and section of flooring can be finished too!! 🥳 It’s been like this for ages! 🙈
I’m really hoping the mantle surround can be kept as the little panels on it match perfectly with the room! 🤞🏻Swipe ⬅️ for a closer look.
In other news I’m looking forward to another outdoor catch up with a friend later this week...these are making all the difference aren’t they?! 🥰💕
Is anyone else having a nightmare with @ikeauk at the moment??? We had them design our kitchen and there are a few little issues that are proving impossible to resolve as there are no phone lines, customer service email or online chat at the moment. The designers got the measurements wrong so the kitchen doesn’t all fit. Oh and they added a random white cabinet when the kitchen is black 🤦♀️ If anyone has any advise on how to get hold of them let me know. Other than going to store and waiting in line for hours with a small child and baby! #ikeauk#kitchendesign#ikeakitchen#renovation#reno#victorianhouserenovation#extensions#refurb

Day 2 #mydailyrenovation is // first attempt // there are many firsts here! Managing the wildflower meadow and planting the orchard up, I’ve been cutting paths through the meadow so that you can appreciate the wildflowers close up. BIG NEWS-yesterday the power company came to install our new 3phase supply which means this electricity pole and the one right near the house on the driveway (just out of shot here but in a really annoying position with a huge stay sticking out of it) have been removed! This took so much work beforehand digging huge trenches across the meadow etc but it’s finally done. Whoop! Now what to do with the 3 poles 🤔 .
Last in the series of artex photos...for now. Artex on tiles, and then more tiles and a sink added. This is in our bedroom, because our bathroom doesn’t have a sink...obviously 🤣🙈 There is also a massive piece of wood attached to the wall for a curtain hook, you know just to be safe 🤣
The stairs are going to be one of our last areas and one of the most discussed areas as it's so dark and has lovely textured walls 🤢. The only thing we have done is whiten up some of skirting and get some carpet fitted to try and dampen the noise of our little ones running up and down the stairs 🎧. How cute is our little Hopper when he was a kitten 😻! What areas of your house have been left until later because you just can't decide what to do there?
Tomorrow my daughter and I are going to finally tackle reviving the side porch. I have never really touched this part of the house@in our almost three years here, except cleaning it a little last summer. It’s not that I haven’t wanted, but other projects always pushed their way to the top of the list, leaving this space super neglected. Well starting tomorrow she’s getting a makeover! Paint is where we are beginning. Wish us luck!! #folkvictorian#porchdecor#beforeandafter#sideporch#victorianhouse#victorianhouserenovation

Been a little under the weather this week which has resulted in little to no DIY, and very little progress to show...but nothing a few deliveries can’t fix 📦
Our storage bench arrived yesterday and with a little bit of faffing has made our Master Bedroom feel even more complete 🌿
If our plans go to plan (Cue the sniggers from all you fellow renovators 😆) then this room will become our guest bedroom but I’m hoping our guests won’t complain ✨
So I’ve been thinking about coffee tables today. (All thanks to @mad_about_the_house ‘s post). I don’t have one. The space on my rug is exclusively for burpees, pilates and for the toddler to crash about on. I can’t remember the last time I actually owned a coffee table where you could store all your snacks, wine and put your feet up 😴 But wouldn’t that be nice? I’m suddenly feeling irrationally jealous of coffee table owners, so I’m reconsidering my position. But would the toddler need stitches once she’s fallen into it a hundred times 🤔. What do you say? #indecisive#toomuchtime
