🇯🇵Japanese word of the day: 間 “MA.” I would translate it as the space, silence, or emptiness that gives increased meaning to the things that ARE present. It is a “pause” in conversation, art, or anything... and it is appreciated and valued by the Japanese. So, rather than feeling like the silence @deervalleyresort is deafening, I’m taking it all in. I’m appreciating the “Ma.” ❄️❄️❄️Though, that’s not to say that all this untouched powder isn’t killing me!😜 Swipe ⬅️ for a video tour.👍🏻 #findyourma
Foldover positions are an effective way to strengthen the seat and hip muscles, while also engaging the core to help stabilize you. Make sure to press all four corners of your standing leg’s foot into the carpet, shift weight into your working side hand on the barre, and keep the core muscles engaged. When you maintain proper alignment, you’re better able to work your seat muscles to the point of fatigue. Remember to talk with your teachers before or after class if you have any questions about this position, or if you need a modification in order to work your hardest during class!
“As neighbors, customers, and advocates, we should be proud to support the local businesses that bolster our community. These companies lead with forward thinking and are conscious of their impact.” Our current issue highlights the entrepreneurs of Park City, and it’s more important than ever to support these local businesses. 😢 @pcef4kids has decided to cancel Running with Ed. It's a big hit to their program fund but they hope to be back better and stronger when this is all over. In the meantime, they are raising money to support teachers who are reinventing education on the fly! They need money to buy at-home learning supplies for their kids who don't have them. Teachers are doing amazing things right now, so let’s help them in this fight for "normal.” Donations can be made online at pcef4kids.org ❤️
Good Morning Friends!
If you need your Card Reading Fix, I am doing them on Zoom.
Zoom works great for this and is easy to do.
I know it seems like nothing new is happening in your world...that things are at a standstill.
What I am finding is that in this time of close quarters, quiet time and maybe stress, we are face to face with who we are on a more intimate level. It is all the same "stuff", just magnified in this upside down time. There are less distractions to camouflage our dis-ease. There it is, front and center.
So if you find some emotional static that wants to be revealed, embraced and shifted, let's do a reading.
My focus and protocol in Card Readings is this:
* Shine a light on what is up in your world that is causing the most unease. What is up for you in this Now Moment?
* Discuss how it is affecting your life now, that is not working.
* Focus on what is Desired in your life and around this situation. I Focus on what is Desired, rather than the "problem". It is an important and subtle frequency shift that is powerful.
* Create next steps or actions that align with that Desire.
* Alignment with your Highest Good & a Higher Frequency around your desire.
I embrace this protocol because it brings to the surface what needs to be released. Awareness, Acknowledgment and Acceptance of what is not working, is far more effective and empowering than squashing it down or being embarrassed about it. Trying to figure out why or how or when it came to be, is not always necessary. It can also cause you to procrastinate moving forward. Who cares....there it is, it is not working, lets encourage a higher vibration moving forward. We all know what we want, desire, seek. Let's embrace that energy.
I am here for you.
Shout out if you want to book a Reading.

We first met Meredith Erickson over Käsespätzle and alpine sparkling wine at one of our favorite wine bars in Vermont. While Meredith has written beautiful cookbooks with the likes of Master Sommelier Bobby Stuckey, Claridge’s, and the folks behind Joe Beef, her newest book, Alpine Cooking, is the one that truly caught our eye. A beautiful and expansive ode to the alps, Alpine Cooking is part travelogue, part coffee table book (seriously, the photos are incredible), and absolutely full of recipes from the grand hotels and on-piste huttes of the Alps. Read our interview with Meredith on The Journal. Link in bio. #designedbytradition

What defines a small, locally owned business...
That question is being answered a different way nearly every hour of every day for many business owners in our community.
Is it the dedicated employees...the bartenders...baristas...fitness instructors...hotel housekeepers that work tirelessly to deliver the whatevs the customers want?
Is it the founders...the entrepreneurs...the leaders driven wake up each morning, ready to take charge of the day?
Or surely it is the loyal customers...the social media super-fans...the VIP, Diamond member in the CRM, right?
The truth be told...it is none of them...it is ALL of them.
No matter how big, or how small a business is, it is the people that make it all work. It’s the people...all coming together that is the magic, the secret sauce to small biz.
Being faced with a temporary closure of Newpark Resort is extremely hard - hard to shake the concern for employees that we placed on temporary leave; the feelings of failure as the Owners when we locked the doors; and certainly the disappointment to our customers whose vacation was cancelled this spring.
But the emotions cannot
be debilitating. We must move forward, continuing to chart a course into the future and not let this unprecedented
pandemic deter the pride of employment; entrepreneurial spirit of owning a small business; and joy of being customers once again.
As we take time to pause, stay home to stay healthy and shift our perspective towards appreciating what we have...it is with grateful hearts we thank our team at Newpark Resort and their families; give props to other business like us; and say we miss our customers that have made our work into our purpose.

Is it happy hour yet? What is your go to happy hour drink? .
Just like life right now, my newsletter looks just a bit different this month. But I'm still here to share some useful information (like where to get good food!) and some Park City to-do's while you're stuck at home. Now more than ever, we need to come together (while apart) as a community and help support our local businesses as well as each other during these unusual times. I hope everyone is staying safe and sane. Here’s to the inside Good Life…Link in bio to read my April Newsletter! ❤️
#supportlocal@helenknowsbest There is a lot of talk right now about “self care.” To Helen Krakow, skin care is a big part of that. She is a rare person who probably cares more about your skin than you do! As a Master Esthetician and instructor, Helen has operated Park City’s Lespri Rain Spa since 2013, and before that worked at The Spa at Silver Mountain and Vie on Park Ave.
Helen has a male client here in Park City who has always struggled with “really bad skin” and nothing he tried helped. She started mixing natural ingredients that she knew would boost his skin’s healing and in doing so created a face balm for him. The balm worked so well that she began making it for other clients. 9 years ago, Helen partnered with her daughter, Gabi Lopresto, and launched “Helen Knows Best.” The Helen Knows Best products have all been formulated for being outdoors. They are ideal for Park City’s dry climate and high altitude, but you don’t have to live here for them to work for you. “If you are outside and have skin, then these products are for you,” says Helen. All of the products use the very best natural ingredients without harsh chemicals or artificial fragrances. Remember, your skin is your bodies largest organ! ❓I’m not sure who likes the products more, my wife, or me! I’ve become a big fan of the Face Balm and Serum.
I asked Helen her biggest “secret.” “Be consistent. 🤫Take care of your skin every day. No product will work if it just sits in your medicine chest,” she tells me. ‼️All products are AVAILABLE ONLINE [link in my bio], and when the world gets back to normal, you’ll also find them in Park City at @colesport@bjornstovaboutique@promontoryclub@washingtonschoolhouse@thedermatologyhouse and Lespri Rain Spa.
Products are: Face Balm, Lip Balm, Sunscreen SPF 30+ & 50+, French-Clay Milk Cleanser, Refining Cleanser, Hydrating Toner, Revitalizing Mist, S.M.A.R.T. Face Serum, and Perfecting Masque.

Lunges are an effective way to strengthen the thighs and seat, while also keeping your heart rate elevated during Pure Empower. A lot of times, we use the platform to slightly increase the intensity of the work and challenge our balance during class. When lunging with one foot on the platform, work to maintain strong form - 90-degree bends in both knees, shoulders stacked over the hips, a neutral spine, and the ball of the back foot pressing into the carpet. If the platform distracts you from working in your best form, feel free to step both feet onto the carpet! It’s also an option to use smaller ranges of motion as you’re building both strength and endurance. By moving the whole body as one unit and maintaining proper alignment in lunges, you will begin feeling stronger in the thighs and seat each time you take Pure Empower!

Self quarantined to this deep powder with symptoms of the culture.
Park City is a town loved by visitors who support our local businesses and restaurants. 🙏 That said, we have a number of shops and restaurants that have always gone the extra mile to engage locals year round.👏🏼 One of these is Versante‼️ It’s actually a little ironic that they are so focused on locals because they are attached to the Peaks Hotel! Versante offers some of my very favorite food in town and their menu🍝🍕🥗 is a great value, especially for families!
Currently, they are open every day from 4pm-9pm for curbside orders. They have created an impressive assembly line process to ensure food and package safety, including sterilizing pens. And, true to form, the entire abbreviated menu is now 50% OFF for ALL Healthcare Workers and First Responders‼️🙏WOW! The team at Versante supports us, so let’s support them! @versantehearthandbar [Pic] 🍕Pizza Pies from the top: “Old Town”, “The Parkite” and Pepperoni. The chew on this crust is AMAZING! And the Brussel Sprouts are a real crowd pleaser. [Link to the menu is in my bio].
Which other establishments around town have you always felt are here for the locals❓
Connection is everything during this time, as we may be physically distancing from one another, at least we can still be virtually social.
We'll be holding another virtual meet up this Wednesday, April 1, from 12-1 p.m. MST, for a WIN Connection Call with special guest Claudia McMullin, owner of @thehugocoffee. Claudia is going to help educate small business owners on the various lending and grant solutions that are available, and WIN Park City Directors @kbarlow63 and @cindylopat will help lead the informal discussion.
This is a members only meeting so please check your emails for Zoom details!

I heard something this morning during our @summitsir online sales meeting that has stuck with me: “remember to celebrate your wins”. Those that know me well, know I don’t need an excuse to celebrate 💃🏼🍾 but it’s good advice to remember in these trying times 🙏 While your victories may seem trivial in light of what our world 🌎 is facing, it’s still a worthwhile exercise to give yourself some credit. We all need to work together to recognize and celebrate 🎉 each other’s wins, no matter how small they may be, and to stay positive amidst negative headlines 📰 We are grateful on this Monday to celebrate 2️⃣ closed transactions after navigating some hurdles🏃🏼♀️on the way to the closing table for two great sets of clients. Remember to find a bright spot 🌞 in your day, and don’t forget to give yourself a little credit ❤️
Our mountain towns have been hit hard by the pandemic sweeping our country. Our communities rely on tourism, visitors and locals dining, shopping, playing in our mountains. During this time we appreciate you staying home with your families and loved ones and suggest making some time to breathe in the fresh air, go for a walk in your neighborhood, hike a local trail. Nature can heal and bring our minds at peace. We look forward to seeing you and sharing our love for the mountains with you when we are able to get back to some sort of normal. Be Well!
The Snow Must Go On! ⠀
We've long said March was one of our snowiest months, yet this year it is not quite as celebrated. ⠀

This weekend, on a drive around town, I happened upon THIS, on an otherwise completely empty Park City Main Street. I mean, c’mon! When was the last time this mining town thoroughfare was deserted except for a horse and her rider⁉️The hitches and troughs are long gone, but wow! This made me smile. I hope it makes you smile too!🙂 #silverlinings
