Stores and markets and other great cafes and health food stores across Sydney.
Got out of my little Sydney suburb bubble today and ventured over eastern suburbs way to do a bit of work over this delish waffle and then to a very special shoot for the gorgeous @spoonful_of_sarah ♥️ The best way to round out the week ✌🏻 hope you guys have a good weekend 😊
Now, I’m not so naive as to just jump straight in to vegan-ism, however, this film does make you question the meat choices you make and what it actually does to your body.
It’s not telling you to stop eating animal meats or you’re going to die! But it is purely trying to advise people on the quality of the protein that we put in to our bodies and the potential dangers of animal meats
As an aspiring bodybuilder, protein is essential, but knowing that the quality of protein can have an adverse effect on my health has really got me thinking, “what if animal protein isn’t the ONLY kind of protein out there and other sources are actually more beneficial”
I highly recommend that anyone who plays sports or is into bodybuilding or just has a diet that includes a high level of protein consumption, just watch this film with an open mind and see if it gives you anything to think about with regards to the quality of the protein you eat.
I know there are plenty of other diets that include meat from animals and plenty of people that think “animal meats are the only meat that work for me”, well, just watch the damn film because in my own opinion, it makes a lot of good points and honestly, it makes bloody sense!
It's lucky enough to find a vegetarian stall in a hawker center, but this one has about 8-9 vegetarian stalls! Such a delightful surprise😁 food are cheap and up to standard too!
Our handmade pan mee had a right texture with a flavourful soup, nasi lemak (swipe right) has really fragrant pandan rice. Can't wait to try more next time 😜
DINNER IN SYDNEY! 💚🌱💚 🇮🇳 Our wanderings in Sydney last night led us to a restaurant I had briefly spotted earlier in the day - Lavendra
To describe it:
“Lavendra brings you the finest Indian cuisine influenced by both Indian culture and Australian upbringing, using the freshest ingredients that Australia has to offer. This is a unique dining experience serving the finest Indian cuisine.”
~ Inderpreet Singh – 3rd Generation Chef
We LOVE beautiful Indian food and we were thrilled to enjoy two dishes.
We chose the Bengal Lancers Gobi – made with Tandoori Cauliflower, Tikka Masala and Roasted Curry Leaves (pictured)
Also, the Baingan Patiala – Eggplant, Tadka, Mango Powder and Nigella Seeds
Both dishes were cooked perfectly, infused with mouth watering spices but not overdone.
We also enjoyed some garlic roti and basmati rice.
The views from the restaurant are spectacular - enjoy watching the afternoon sun disappear and night setting in over the harbour bridge.
The staff were all attentive and friendly and happy to advise on any dietary changes to the stages to assist us, which was so appreciated.
Our understanding has that the menu changes seasonally too, making the most of Australian produce when it is available.
Delicious Indian cuisine made with Indian techniques.
Add it to your list! You’ll find them on the corner of Lavender and Walker Street, North Sydney.
***STORE-BOUGHT VS HOMEMADE BANANA BREAD***⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s no secret that store-bought foods typically contain a higher amount of energy, sugar and fats. In this case, the store-bought banana bread contains nearly 2x more energy and 7x more sugar than the homemade option!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
According to the World Health Organisation, one slice of this particular store-bought bread would exceed the maximum daily recommended added sugar intake for women (6 tsps/day), and nearly reach it for men (9 tsps/day). The store-bought variety also has nearly 1.5x the amount of fat as the homemade one. It’s then clear to see why the energy content of the store-bought bread is nearly double.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
BUT this is not to say that we should be running for the hills instead of ever touching store-bought banana bread again! It is obviously much more convenient to buy it pre-made, and in some cases might just be damn tastier—and that’s fair!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
However, it is something to be mindful of if, for example, you find yourself grabbing it everyday for an afternoon snack out of habit if weight loss is your goal.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Stay tuned for the homemade recipe tomorrow!
All i need is CHIAPUDDING 💜 #rezeptidee
Eure MaLa xoxo •
Hello IG world 💜
Yesterday I tried my new running shoes. Clooney, my dog, accompanied me. Does someone agree that they are not really comfortable on the first run and the balls of your feet are burning? •
For my Chiapudding I have mashed a few frozen berries and mixed with 1 tbsp chia seeds. Then doused with coconut milk (4-fold amount) and placed it overnight in the freezer. Since I put it all in a jam jar, i shake the whole thing. I do not like lumps, bah. 🙃 In the morning I added some milk, protein powder and banana. Just perfect after the 'wake up call' in the gym. 💜 •
Wish you a nice Friday and leave a ❤ if you like.
Yours MaLa xoxo
“Are you looking at #noods just now???” Me: 😳🤫 “Maybe?”
For realz, a hot bowl of noods🍜 is such a satisfying late night meal. It’s so healthy too!
I made a miso ginger soup base (1 tbsp of miso paste, slices of ginger, hot water), steamed some bok choy with Magi soy sauce, added a tomato 🍅 mainly for color, then a fat slab of fu pao (folded marinated soy sheets!)

Who wants to celebrate my birthday? Because I love surprises and don’t want to be the only person receiving gifts. Here’s what y’all have gotta do.
1) Like @hoginfarmhouse
2) You already like it? Great and thank you for following our life here on the farm.
3) Tag 10 people. Those 10 people have to like @hoginfarmhouse by October 25, 2019 at 12:00 pm.
3) October 27th (My Birthday), Maycie and I will go live at 12:00 pm CST to draw 5 names!!! Not 1, but 5🥳
EXTRA and Not Basic: Tag 20 people to increase your chances. What’s this mean? For every 10, you get your name once, 20 twice, 30.... you got me, right?
Each gift will be something I cannot live without or at least I think I can’t live without.
Here’s a hint of your surprise because I will tag all the stores I love and will be shopping for prizes until then. Join in on the fun, it’s a celebration 🎊
For the love of these stores:
The last healthy restaurant find on the big island was Journey to Good Health Café and it was awesome! 😋 👍
🥗It had one of the most impressive plant-based menus I’ve seen, and I wanted to try everything on it! The only bummer was that we discovered it just before leaving because I would have gone back many times. 🍽
Everything was made fresh using local ingredients and not with processed substitutes. And the name is perfect for exactly what this place makes and its long-term goals. They plan to build a demonstration garden for educational purposes as well as use the food at the restaurant. 🌿 🥬🍄🥕🌶🥦🥥
I had the pleasure of meeting Sam, the owner, and hearing about his journey to good health. He found his calling after having reversed his own health condition of arthritis through natural food medicine in Japan. Sam also lost 200 lbs from changing his diet. 👍 He’s a driven individual passionate to make a change in environmental and food sustainability. His co-worker, Rasheed, previously worked for Dr. Dean Ornish (president and founder of the nonprofit Preventive Medicine Research Institute) so they make a great team. 🌱☘ 🍀 🌴
I highly recommend visiting the restaurant if you are ever in Kona. It was inspiring, nutritious and delicious!

Do you remember as a kid, there was something special about weekend breakfasts? With all the time in the world and no rushing off to school or work. For our family, Saturday mornings were always a quiet home affair. And with all the time in the world, of course the best thing to do with all that time was make pancakes.
I'm thrilled to pass this tradition down to my kids with this healthy pancake recipe. Recipe in my bio 😘

lunch time ✨ I love love loveeee to cook but having someone prepare a healthy meal for me can sometimes be the biggest treat when I don’t feel like cooking ( do you other foodies agree?) This Herb Crusted salmon with veggies from @macros.com.au was sooo delish I just added some avocado (duh) and some balsamic and enjoyed it in the sun. I find when I sit and eat outside I eat more mindfully and am in a calmer state which can help your digestion and absorption of nutrients you’re eating . who agrees?

A Celebration of Learning at Nurture Avondale quickly morphed into a celebration of eating!! Chef Rose has produced platters of black bean brownies, blueberry cupcakes and Indian burfi. We celebrate ‘sweet’ as being deeply delicious and a joyous experience - part of a healthy, balanced diet.
One cake that I am always down for is @wholefoodsbc's Carrot Cake. The full cake's a little thick on the cream cheese icing on top but still delicious.

🍪These delicious no-bake VEGAN Peanut Butter cookies are SO GOOD and super easy. Leave it to #minimalistbaker to have another winning recipe. Do you understand why I go to the minimalist baker for recipes so often? *
Because she keeps things extremely simple, and I am extremely complex. So I rely on her simplicity to make an Amazing Cookie and then I throw in about 10 other ingredients and I am SO in love with how these turned out 👏💜🌰
~ Adaptogens (lions mane, he shou wu, maca, Ashwagandha, cordyceps, almonds, hemp seeds, chia seeds, coconut flakes. *
Visit her blog for the recipe, Find the Chocolate Glaze below~ 🍩CHOCOLATE GLAZE optional
3 Tbsp coconut oil (melted// measured after melting)
3 Tbsp cacao powder (sifted // or sub unsweetened cocoa powder)
1-2 tsp maple syrup (plus more to taste)
1 Pinch sea salt (optional)
My latest go to has been cauliflower rice. I could eat it with every meal. I am not a rice fan and high carbs are not my friend and this is just such an easy a great way of filling up, staying healthy and low carb (don't forget fiber keto peeps!)
Keep it simple and yummy! #lowcarb#wholefoods
Wild Rice Pilaf w/ Mushrooms & Chickpeas ✨
This is a perfect easy fall dish 🍂 Hearty & warm but full of goodness! Best served w yummy roasted squash on the side too 🤪 I suggest doubling the chickpeas & saving half to just snack on btw bc they’re the perfect little crunchies!!! Grab simple recipe below! 🧡
1 can chickpeas, drained, rinsed & patted dry
3 tbsp olive oil (separated)
Salt & pepper 🧂
1 cup wild rice blend, rinsed (I use the blend from Whole Foods of wild & brown basmati) 🍚
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 small yellow onion, chopped
1 package Cremini mushrooms 🍄
Handful of chives, chopped
1.) Heat oven to 400. Toss chickpeas w/ 1 tbsp oil & a generous shake of salt & pepper & bake about 40 mins until super crispy crunchy.
2.) Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pot. Add onion & garlic & cook until translucent, bout 3-5 mins over medium heat. Add rice & cook according to package directions, replacing the water it calls for w/ veggie broth.
3.) While everything else is cooking, sauté your mushrooms in last tbsp of oil in a pan until nice and browned.
4.) Mix rice, mushrooms, chickpeas & chives together & season w/ salt & pepper if needed. Enjoy 💛

Mushroom Tofu Sisig
6 cups diced mushroom (we used Portobello)
1 lemon or calamansi equivalent
1/4 cup soy sauce
Dash of pepper
Dash of Montreal Steak Seasoning
Fried Tofu in a bit of coconut oil/olive oil
1 whole Red Onion (or more) chopped
Half a garlic (5-8 cloves) minced
Green or red chilli, minced
1. Chop mushrooms. Marinate.
2. In a pan, add oil (Olive or Coconut oil preferred) to coat.
3. Sauté garlic & onion & chilli.
4. Add marinated mushroom.
5. Cook until mushroom has dried up a bit— but not completely.
6. Add add cooled & diced tofu.
7. Serve on top of rice (we cook a mixed of black sticky, brown, & basmati).
8. Add a dollop of mayonnaise and sriracha (if not spicy enough).
9. Enjoy with whatever sides you can think of. (Eat the rainbow! 🌈) Credits to @auaranas for sharing the recipe! 😋
Chunky .. Chocolate Chip .. house smells amazing!! Thank you to my friend Helene in Adelaide for reminding me of how delicious this recipe is. Some times I feel there are not enough days to make all the recipes !! Best eaten on the day but still enjoyed the next! Great breakfast for those on the run too. My children love this chunky cookie! 🎉Happy Friday !! Recipe 👇😘 Ingredients
1 cup mashed banana
2 cups ground almonds or LSA or ground mixed nuts (eg. almonds, walnuts, brazil nuts)
1 cup shredded coconut
1 Tsp vanilla essence
2 Tbs stevia or honey or maple syrup (adjust sweetness to your liking)
1 Tsp GF baking powder
2 Tbs coconut flour
1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (upwards of 70% to keep the sugar content down) - alternatively you could use raisins, sultanas or any finely chopped dried fruit
Preheat the oven to 180c (fanforced) and line a tray with baking paper.
To one large bowl, add the eggs and lightly whisk. Add the banana and mash through the eggs until it becomes a smooth batter (I use a fork)
Using that fork, add the baking powder, vanilla. Mix well.
Add the remaining ingredients and combine well.
Allow to sit for 5 minutes so the coconut flour can absorb.
Using an icecream scoop or large tablespoon, form your cookies, making sure they are all the same size.
Place in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. #gf#gfbreakfast#thefitinterest#cookies#gfcookies#cleaneating#norefinedsugar

Sweet and Sticky Tofu bowl by @nourishingalex 😋 The tofu is sticky, delicious, and crispy on the outside
• 1/2 block extra firm tofu, drained & pressed all the liquid out
• 2 tbsp soy sauce
• 2 tbsp maple syrup
• 1 tbsp sriracha sauce
• 1 tsp garlic powder
• 1/2 tsp ground ginger
• 1 tbsp cornflour
1. Prepare the tofu by draining all the liquid out of the packaging, then gently pressing the tofu in between two clean tea towels until dry. Slice the tofu into bite-size cubes.
2. Whisk all the sauce ingredients together in a small bowl until smooth and well combined. Stir in some sesame seeds for a crunchy texture.
3. Dunk the tofu cubes into the sweet sticky sauce until the tofu cubes are covered, then marinade them for 30 minutes by covering with clingfilm and placing them into the fridge to chill and soak up all the flavours.
4. transfer the tofu into a heated frying pan/wok with a little spray oil. Cook for about 10 minutes on a medium-high heat setting until sticky and firm.
5. Serve with your stir fry veggies and noodles! Enjoy

Ending the night with a hot, yummy CAULI GNOCCHI bowl sounds ideal 😍👌🏼🤗Brad has been feeling under the weather for the past two nights and I’m worried I may be catching it also 🙈What is your go-to meal when you don’t feel well? Watch my stories to see what I make for us tonight! ❤️ Good evening friends .
1. Cook @traderjoes cauliflower gnocchi on a pan drizzled with @kouzinifoods Greek cold pressed olive oil until crispy (about 5-7 minutes) making sure to flip intermittently.
2. Toss in some roasted garlic (I keep a small jar in my fridge because it adds so much flavor), next add in your favorite veggies. I used steamed broccoli, @organicgirl baby spinach and roasted tomatoes.
3. Mix in @raoshomemade arrabiata sauce then top with fresh goat parm and enjoy!
