Aliens or Special effects? 👽 or 🔮?
This is actually about 8 different photos layered into one with the assistance of my @lumecube . Each shot was about 4 seconds. So it is took some work to get them all lined up just right. #lumecube#litbylume

It me! I’m usually behind the camera, but it’s nice to have my photo taken every so often.

Winter wonderland ❄️
Here we were chasing the snow storm in Yosemite with my buddy Louis @louiskchan for the thanksgiving week a while ago. We did not get the 100/0 sunrise. But we had a lot of fun hiking in the waist deep snow and were able to capture some classic views. .
Swipe Left for the full photo: Arising From a Watery Domain: Tufas emerge from a lake bed in California. The challenge here is find locations where you can get both water and tufas in the same photo. The tufas originally formed beneath the lake bed, but many have been exposed from the lake receding over time. The lake is one of the oldest lakes on earth. Anyway, the tufas are predominately on the south shore and the Milky Way is to the south, so it can be a challenge at times to get tufas with water in front of them. As the water rises and recedes the compositions change over time. ___________________________________________ 18 light frames and one dark frame stacked in Starry Landscape Stacker. 14-24 mm lens, 17 mm, 30 sec., ISO 12,800. I would normally use about 20-25 sec. for this focal length so 30 sec is a longer exposure than normal for me. Oops! Still worked out ok. Using a high ISO is no issue if you stack enough photos. My default number is 16 images. I judge exposure based on the histogram. A better exposure will help to bring out some shadow detail even at night but you have to be careful not to overexpose the Milky Way and stars. ___________________________________________ Low Level Lightening (LLL) used the light the tufas. I’m this case the LLL was done with a single Goal Zero Micro Lantern gently placed on a small tufa about 30 feet, 10 meters away. I would prefer a more distant light source but the location was constrained by water and tufas.

Nature is so powerful, so strong. Capturing its essence is not easy - your work becomes a dance with light and the weather. It takes you to a place within yourself. - Annie Leibovitz
Crazy evening shooting the sunset. The wet sand was like a mirror.

"Alcatraz was built to keep all the rotten eggs in one basket, and I was specially chosen to make sure that the stink from the basket does not escape. Since I've been warden, a few people have tried to escape. Most of them have been recaptured; those that haven't have been killed or drowned in the bay. No one has ever escaped from Alcatraz. And no one ever will."
- from the movie ‘Escape from Alcatraz’
I’ve suddenly found myself with all the time in the world. It’s a great thing I’m good at entertaining myself. Teddy is not amused. 🐶😎 Follow me over the next 4 months as I travel solo in #LadytheScamp all over California, Utah, and Nevada. I plan to travel to cities to entertain, #mountainunicycle some new trails, and visit my yoga friends in Santa Cruz. I also plan to do a lot of exploring around #JoshuaTreeNationalPark . Although I wouldn’t necessarily choose to be apart from Nicole, it does have the perk that I can dive deep into the hobbies I enjoy. I’m about to do 3 in a row classes @onedowndog. And later on I’ll probably go for a hike. Yesterday I enjoyed a 9 miler at the Hollywood Sign and Observatory in #lasangeles with my pal @ryanahoover. I stopped to do a little impromptu performance. Check it out. ✌️
“First Rain” 11x14 acrylic on wood.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I was at the library when the rains just started a few weeks ago. From there you can see out over the lagoon and to the ocean. I could see the rain showers drifting from the poofy storm clouds, and the light was just like this, so bright and colorful. One of those scenes you just have to capture!!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So inspired by the influx of rainstorms with their vibrant sky colors, textured clouds.... rainbows!! I’ve got so much to paint right now 🌈🌧
