🤔How does deprivation impact self efficacy for resistance training?🤔
The following data is from my latest batch of data going through the write up as we speak! 🤓
The data is based on adolescent males (n=110) on the #wirral from this year and across a spectrum of deprivation levels. .
As you can see in the first picture, across all deprivation levels, there’s not much difference between strength* (p <0.001). *multiple strength measures were taken and demonstrated a similar effect. .
However, when we asked how they felt about conducting resistance training (Self efficacy for resistance training questionnaire, Lubans et al), those from a more deprived backgrounds demonstrate they don’t feel as though they can conduct resistance training 😳. .
Further exploration of this group was conducted in focus groups. The general theme across the whole data set is a lack of exposure and understanding to resistance training. .
Furthermore, individuals interviewed were unaware of the #physicalactivity guidelines and what they encompass. More work has to be done in order to support these emerging adults in cultivating a physically active and healthy life in adulthood. .

Last week he absolutely smashed potty training and I'm so proud. He's the oldest of the four but I believe these things shouldn't be rushed. We've waited until each has been ready and wanting to and they've all pretty much done it themselves in a matter of days, relatively stress-free with minimal accidents. Dry day and night and buzzing he gets to wear Superhhero underpants everyday 😂
