The GM walkout is the latest stage in a global strike wave. The strike by US autoworkers is unfolding in the context of an international movement of the working class. Just last week, 8,000 GM workers went on strike in Korea, and French transit workers shut down the subways of Paris. Over the past year, auto workers in India and Mexico have waged powerful strikes. In France, Puerto Rico and Hong Kong, workers and youth have been involved in mass demonstrations in defense of their social and democratic rights.
The struggle can succeed only if it is taken out of the control of the UAW traitors. Workers must elect rank-and-file committees to organize and expand the strike.

Searching for the f**ks to give. This one goes out to all the people who sit in their car with AC complaining and telling us to get the f**k off the road. “We are doing this for YOU.” So you can walk on the sidewalk and not feel like you’re in a third world country full of cracks & potholes.
The California Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) just announced that the 2020 minimum and maximum temporary total disability rate is expected to rise significantly. DWC says the minimum TTD rate will increase to about $194.91 and the maximum TTD rate will increase to $1,999.43 on a weekly basis.
TTD benefits are generally equal to two-thirds of your former income, which comprises overtime, lodging, and gas. You may receive more than that if you were scheduled for a pay raise – about two-thirds of the higher wage. However, these rates are subject to a minimum and maximum rate based on the day the injury had taken place.
For the most part, your doctor will decide whether you are entitled to receive TD. You can get a second opinion if don’t agree with your doctor. You will receive your first payment around 14 days after your employer discovers you were injured at work and states that you are temporarily disabled
Yesterday, nurses from Alameda and San Leandro Hospitals delivered 1,500 postcards from the community demanding that the Alameda County Board of Supervisors assist in resolving their dispute with hospital administrators.
They shared their experiences with the severe staffing crisis and the increase in workplace violence. They reminded supervisors that Friday's strike is part of their fight to be able to provide safe patient care. And they let them know that the other county unions are solidly in support of CNA nurses on these issues.
I stand with the hardworking men and women of the UAW as they fight for fair wages, affordable health care, profit sharing and job security. Unions built the middle class and sacrificed to keep GM's doors open during the Great Recession. Now it's time for GM to stand up for its workers! #Solidarity#Workers#kentieldwhite#ashiftiscoming2019
This year, World Humanitarian Day (19 August) is honoring the women humanitarian workers who work on the front lines in their communities to help people in need and are often severely impacted by crises. They are also the leaders in recovery and resilience.
On this day we showcase the commitment and drive of some truly amazing women in the humanitarian community.
Today and every day, we stand up for women humanitarian workers around the world. Thanks for all the work you do and all the change you strive to bring to the communities!
