Haven't been posting here in a while 😄.. Things happened, grew a baby who's turning 2 in 2 months' time.. 🥳
Current #workfromhome situation, no one to talk to at home so it's monologue time online. 😉
Breakfast - homemade cold brew (@redmartcom 's coffee beans, 1kg can last me 3 months) with a piece of @cedelesingapore 's walnut brioche sticky bun. Soft and indulgent. 👍🏻

Someone I know shared this analogy yesterday and I really wanted to share before bed tonight ❤️
You are holding a cup of coffee when someone comes along and bumps into you or shakes your arm...making your coffee spill everywhere.
Why did you spill the coffee? 🤷♂️
"Well because someone bumped into me...of course!"
You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup.
Had there been hot chocolate in the cup...you would have spilled hot chocolate.
So whatever is inside the cup...is what will spill out.
Therefore...when life comes along and shakes you (which WILL happen people)...whatever is inside you will come out.
So we have to ask ourselves... “what's in my cup?" When life gets tough...what spills over?
Gratefulness, kindness, peace and happiness?
Or anger...bitterness...harsh words...hate...and hurtful reactions?
You choose! 💯Every time. It’s a choice. And you choose.
Let’s work towards filling our cups with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, words of affirmation; and kindness, gentleness and love for others.
I just feel like this is a great lesson and that’s it’s important to work on our “insides” as much as our “outsides” and I dunno about y’all but sometimes I can be a biatch and this was just a great reminder to choose gratitude.
Ok Gnight everyone ❤️ #momoftwins#servantleadership#gratitude#servantheart

The project you applied with will most likely change slightly throughout your PhD. Whether that’s due to a pandemic or other circumstances. I had to develop a plan B for my project when COVID hit. I was really stressed out by this as I had planned so much for this project. But then a professor told me something that really changed the way I looked at my PhD: “There is always more than one route to achieving the same impact.”
This made me see my PhD as something more than just a 3 year project filled with certain methods and steps. My project is one that I hope will have a long lasting impact on maternal health and this impact can be achieved by using different methods. Putting impact before input and activities allows us to be flexible with our research methods.
There are different techniques you can use to develop a plan B using a transformer template from @how2glu. Here some are common techniques I used to develop my plan B:
➖ Eliminate: remove/pause elements of your project which are not possible any time soon such as travel abroad for fieldwork
➕ Add: add in elements which can be done despite the changes, this could be more desk work for example additional reviews or secondary data analysis
🙃 Invert: Is there an alternative perspective/angle you can investigate which still gives you the same impact? For example, collecting data from healthcare providers instead of pregnant women abroad might be more feasible
🔄 Translate: apply methods from elsewhere that can be used in your project. This may be virtual or online methods which you could adapt and implement ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #phd#phdlife#phdstudent#phdjourney#phdchat#studygram#study#studying#studyspo#studyblr#flatlay#studyinspo#studymotivation#plan#work#change#tuesday#project#research#academia#student#blog#blogger#notes#aesthetic#school#workfromhome

Working late sucks 😂. I ended up working until beyond 11:30pm last night. 🤦🏻♂️ the feature I had hope to start working on from 9am ended up getting delayed until 2pm because there were other tasks that needed finishing off and a few other issues that came up. Then just as I was making progress I remembered we had a nearly 2 hour meeting which ended up completely disrupting everything!
I managed to finally pick things up towards the end of the day, and then found myself unable to let go of the work. 🙈 Not because I was particularly enjoying it, but more because I just wanted to get it finished. I think that's a character flaw of mine - although it does come in useful - I don't like to leave things when I'm making progress. It's why I hate disruptions and multitasking, and... annoyingly... why I also end up occasionally working very late. This is not me promoting "hustle" culture (something which I think is dangerous and unhelpful) - this is more like "persistence" culture which has its benefits if you're a problem solver but can end up taking over if you're not careful. 😅
Of course, ultimately although I did end up getting quite a lot done last night, it has completely thrown me today! 🥱 ☕️ The day seems to have flown by (again disrupted with a long meeting in the afternoon), and so now I'm not really any further ahead than I would've been anyway... 🤷🏻♂️
Annoyingly it's now 4pm and I can feel like I might end up repeating yesterday's mistake if i'm not very careful! 😂
Do you have this problem too? Or are you able to just finish at any time and pick up from where you left off without too much bother? (If you're that person I envy you!)

We do things a little differently around here @ The JW Method...
I am not your average coach + consultant (You know, “I’m not a regular mom, I’m a cool mom” type of vibe … but better😉)
The JW Method came from a desire to help ambitious women unapologetically shatter the glass ceiling. To confidently step into their power to live a confident, balanced and successful life — like Jac does✨
It is a BOLD strategy, designed for BOLD women that helps you:

#doyou#followyourdream
