We took a 2+ hour trail ride in Custer State Park from Blue Bell Lodge stables along French Creek. Mike rode Repeat and I rode Fred, who was a little pokey. Jacey, riding Big Red, was our trail guide. We rode amidst Ponderosa Pines, some of which were burnt from forest fires. We also saw some fishermen along French Creek. It was rather chilly but at least the sun came out eventually. I loved crossing the creek on horseback! 😊
Stavkirke, as this chapel is also known, is an exact replica of the famous 12th century Borgund Church in Norway. Wood carvings, Christian symbols, and Norse dragon heads adorn the building, which features peg construction. There is also a Norwegian Log Cabin Museum and a storehouse.
Lately, I’ve been reflecting on a phenomenon here in Australia known as ‘tall poppy syndrome.’ The idea being that wanting to shine in your own right is an attack on your peers who may not (yet) stick out. So they will try to rain on your parade and prevent your growth, because misery loves company. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That is fuckin’ way too bad. I believe, in my heart of hearts, that every person is born with an innate gift. A special talent, uniquely them, that only they can bring to this sandbox we all play in. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If we can identify in ourselves that when we get jealous or envious over someone else’s accomplishments, it’s rooted in our fragile ego’s attempts at camouflaging our self doubt, we actually have the power to speed up our species’ evolution. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Think of it this way; we cannot waste any more time squandering our collective human potential. It is paramount that we support those around us who have ambitions, and work to align them with the environment in which they will thrive, so that they can help us push this human story forward. We are all stakeholders in each other’s successes...no stone can be left unturned. What if the girl in school who gets picked on for loving science holds, in her mind, the cure for breast cancer that the bully’s mother will need in 25 years?
✨Where to find the best views of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco✨👇🏼⠀
I know I've posted quite a few shots of this bridge this summer, but only because there are so many AMAZING views of this incredible bridge. I am not usually into city or architecture shots, but the blend of urban and nature in SF gave me all the photo chills. ⠀
Blog on this topic coming soon (with even more spots!), but I wanted to give you a preview on some of my favorite bridge views!⠀
✨BEST SF BAY BRIDGE VIEWS✨⠀⠀
1️⃣Baker Beach: This is the setting of today's shot, and it is the perfect place to catch waves crashing at the base of the bridge!⠀
2️⃣Battery Spencer: This is possibly THE iconic bridge shot that you see on all of the postcards. Head up to the Marin Headlands for a sky-high view of the bridge stretching into the clouds.⠀
3️⃣Fort Point: For an up and close view, head to Fort Point, where you can look up at the bridge from the very base of it. NOTE: this spot is only open on weekends and can have restricted hours, so make sure to research it in advance!⠀
Save this post for your future trips to SF! Comment below if you have any favorite spots to add, or what else you want to know about my trip here! 👇🏼⠀⠀
