I spend a lot of time looking back, trying to figure out the past. Like everyone in our culture, I’ve been convinced that trauma latches onto you and makes you sick and weak. My addictions, the people I’ve lost, the betrayals from people close to me, I’m told I need a higher power for those. The higher power I found, the one I learned from my living ancestors, was my own humanity. Human beings can endure ANYTHING. It makes us BETTER. Some of us even get weirdly turned on by it. The pain IS FOR US.
Thank you to all the racists who gave us Muhammad Ali. You all thought you were silencing him, but your treachery gave us the opportunity to watch him endure with a smile, a joke, and somehow a freestyle before that was a thing. No one has been more beautiful in front of your hateful backdrop. He wouldn’t admit you’d even hurt him. He helped take the country from a place where black Americans were chasing basic rights to a place where white Americans, and everyone else in the world, was chasing Ali, Jordon, Baldwin, Hendrix, West, Basquiat, Jackson, Oprah, Houston, Chappelle, Obama. CULTURE is America’s largest export, which means that black Americans have left the most unforgettable global legacy. None of them had an easy ride, but statistically and spiritually speaking, they are the stars of the world, the most beloved stories, told on the most screens, all because of the empowered culture they created from hate and peril. If it weren’t for genocide and smallpox, Native voices like my dad’s would still be a massive global phenomenon. Life will offer you the path of peril, I say choose it, dance with it. Without the hate, the injustice, Muhammad Ali would be shadow boxing.
Even death itself is a choice opponent.
When my grandparents and my dad died, they didn’t even need words to tell me, “there’s nothing to be scared of over here. It’s for us.” Death was my dad’s last great story, and it changed me forever. Now it’s time to look forward to the stories we were born to tell. The New Sincerity, The New Journalism, The New Love, The New World, The New Friendship.

I don’t know about you, but I find it so hard to make friends as an adult. I’m so fortunate that I inherited a great group of friends through my husband. But back in high school I was so insecure and assumed everyone hated me, silly, I know 🙄 and now, everyone is busy with life and it’s hard to meet people outside of school or work. Throw in that I’m a super nerdy and awkward person that it’s hard to find people that get and appreciate my quirks. But the problem is I love people and making friends...but how??? Then @youngliving falls in to my lap and I find a new way to connect with people. I found Meg on ig because of oils. I stalked her out, we became ig friends, then texting friends, and today for the first time - in person friends!! 🙌🏻 I am grateful for all the positive changes essential oils have had on my life, including helping me find my people! I can’t wait until I can meet all of my crossline oily friends @hp_essential_oils@danimenninga@purrfectly_essential@sarahfutoessentials@firstname.lastname@example.org@kara_n_quigley@email@example.com

Happy Monday, friends! I hope you all had a great weekend 🤩
It’s so easy to push things off now that the majority of us are spending a lot more time at home. Challenge yourself to do more. Do better than last week. Choose something to focus on that you’ve been pushing off and just do it! For me, I’ll be making it a goal to reach out and connect to at least 3 friends, make a new friend, and start off my fitness and wellness journey 💪🏼🤩
Let’s make this week an awesome one!

Networking gets you in the door...

This year, the 4th of July was a holiday that we came to grips about the realities that have been avoided in addressing. As a platform that is about Friendship, we stand with Communities of Color that have not experienced the positivity and healthiness of communion and fellowship throughout time because not everyone has had the quality of life this is most and equally deserved. For over 400 years, racial hierarchy has been as American as apple pie. From the roots of racial hierarchy has been the rise of racism, white supremacy, and privilege. From those roots and branches has come things like police brutality, militarization, abuse, corruption, and violence which we, in this Friend Zone, do not condone in any way, shape, or form. We are about celebrating and encouraging inclusiveness in Friendship. When some of us are struggling and suffering, then all of us are. We stand with the Black Lives Matter Movement unapologetically because in this Friend Zone, Black, Brown, and Indigenous lives matter. Black, Brown, and Indigenous Friendship matters. We were founded by a Black Woman inspired by the words of a Black Man so this means a lot to us. If we lose whatever followers we have, then that is okay. This platform is multicultural and progressive so we know that those who have yet to find us, will ultimately find their way. There is no platform and community like ours so we know the value, heart, and integrity that we bring to the world in the name of Friendship. June 28-July 3, 1969 ~ New York City, New York, USA ~ Wee Hours of Morning ~ Outside Stonewall Inn, a gay bar located in the Greenwich Village Community ~ Accusation/Allegation? Selling liquor without a license ~ What Happened? 9 NYPD officers entered Stonewall Inn, arrested employees, cleared the bar, and by a discriminatory NY statue that authorized arrest of anyome not wearing at least 3 articles of "gender-appropriate clothing," too more into custody. This was the 3rd such raid on this community's gay bars in a short period. Usually, people milling around outside would retreat and/or scatter post-raids but not this time. The crowd stayed and was angered. They grew vocal and started resisting after observing bar patrons being detained in a police van. Bottles and debris were thrown. Jeers escalated to increasingly higher levels. Police reinforcements were called and cops already there barricaded themselves inside the bar while 400 people rioted. Reportedly, the barricades got repeatedly breached and the bar was set on fire. More reinforcements came including firemen that distinguished the flames and the crowd eventually dispersed. ~ The Aftermath: These uprisings oscillated on and off for the next 5 days. Many historians characterized them as spontaneous protests against harassment and sociopolitical discrimination suffered by sexual minorities in the 1960s. Although there have been other gay group protests prior to this pivotal period of unrest, Stonewall was perhaps the 1st time lesbians, gays, and transgender people saw value in uniting behind a common cause. This did not spark the gay rights movement 50 years ago but it did serve as a catalyst and force for a new era of political activism that has led several generations to bring about the progress that is seen in the world today. Although there is a long way to go in bringing about world sexual equality, equity, justice, parity, and positivity, we stand firm on the notion that love will ultimately conquer all. We continue to stand with all of our LGBTQIA Friends through this time and beyond. We are your squad. We are your family and proud. Solidarity!! Happy Pride Month!! 🌈👊🌍👊🌈👊🌍👊🌈👊🌍👊🌈
Thursday night was so fun and the crowd around us had such good vibes and positivity. And meeting new people amongst the crowd and very different friend groups just vibing to the music music 😭😊💕🤖

This morning in service we learned about relationships. I like to invest in people and go beyond just liking and commenting on someone's photo that I know from social media. I've been blessed to meet someone so genuine and down to earth that it seems like I've known her for much longer! @miss.jessicamarie So glad we got to connect in real life (beyond the social media realm)! Good luck in Indiana these next two months💕 #refrigeratorrights#disneybabe#yesnewfriends
