✨EGO IS NOT YOUR AMIGO ✨
Let’s begin with the #psychology around ego.
Ego comes from ancient Greek meaning, “ I “ and Freud popularised the term by referring to it as the conscious mind. So basically to be conscious is to have ego which makes ego mind apart of being human ✔Problems arise with ego when our minds become overly attached to this mindset. .
👁🗨Ego in yoga appears when we are practicing any of the limbs - asana, mediation, pranayama - but are not fully immersed and present in it.
The minds being overly conscious instead of present can pave the wave for ego mind to start telling us it’s stories (lies) about our worth, value, abilities and judgements.
We have another mind in #subconsciousmind referred to as Spirit mind or intuition ✔ This is the voice inside that is kind, intentional, purposeful and good. 👁🗨 Spirit in yoga is the voice in which I teach my students to practice yoga from. The place role that keeps present, fully immersed and be in tune and balanced with our inner world.
👁🗨EGO LIKES = wandering eyes 👀
so it can compare and measure yourself against others. Yes of course, look to the teacher for guidance but be careful ego doesn’t lead your eyes astray with thoughts like .... “look at her she’s doing it better..... why does t my pose look like that ..... how can I get my pose like hers ....”
