It’s day 2 of #HIPPOpeners and today we have an extra cool posture with a name that makes me laugh every time: cow 🐮 face pose. I love all it’s variations and how it makes my hips and shoulders feel.
When they tell you in yoga that you need to “make space” or “find space” in your body, I think of this pose. This is one that can feel uncomfortable initially because makes you go within. You might realize you’re bloated or that your hips and/or shoulders are super tight and you see the work you must do to fix this right on front of you. Poses like these make us aware of the outer work we are doing and also the inner work that needs to be done.
What postures/stretches show you where your work lies?
1. Pigeon ✅
2. Cow face ✅
6. Bird of paradise
Thank you to our inspiring yogi 🎇 hosts and sponsors!!!
“Everyone says love hurts, but that is not true. Loneliness hurts. Rejection hurts. Losing someone hurts. Envy hurts. Everyone gets these things confused with love, but in reality love is the only thing in this world that covers up all pain and makes someone feel wonderful again. Love is the only thing in this world that does not hurt.”
How’s your Monday? 💗
I started the day with coffee and bible study, enjoyed one of my grandmas homemade donuts with maple syrup and taught yoga 🧘♀️
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
I’m thankful for my body and yoga practice, it’s such a wonderful thing to feel strength and flexibility increase. Thank you Lord for the gift of yoga 💞
With so much negativity and devastating news online and on television these days, it is imperative that we take time to release the resulting emotions from our bodies. No matter how you move, remember to get up and step away from media of all forms. Take breaks from the outside world as needed and let your body heal.

DAY 1: #itsayogischoice 🧘♀️
In the time of quarantine I’ve found there’s only *so* much motivation to keep moving through the familiar patterns and with familiar voices. I’m taking on this #itsayogischoice challenge to get moving in different and unique ways, to help spark the creative juices to flow back through my fingertips, and to find the joy in creating once again 🥰
For my Day 1 pose, I’ve taken on a variation of downward dog that feels natural to me as a dancer 💃 The variation of this stretch makes me feel I’m leaping through the air with intention, while grounded through the palms of my hands and the balls of my feet. I am centered with the earth, while escaping through the points of my toes 🩰💓
💜AMETHYST SPHERE💜 I literally just sold one of these this morning, i haven’t even had them in the shop for a week(!!), just one left now. This freaking gorgeous sphere is blowing my mind. Amethyst is considered an all purpose stone, it’s properties span a huge range. It’s known as a stone of Divinity, connecting the keeper with a higher power, it is also an aura cleanser, a stone that inspires calmness of mind, it enhances intuition, and is a stone of manifestation! ✨Amethyst Affirmation: I am connected to my inner wisdom✨
Today we focused on heart openers because I believe that the world needs softer and more open hearts, giving love more and more.
“Likewise we are born free of religion, but we are not born free of the need for compassion”. -Beyond Religion, Dalai Lama
It’s not about the poses. If it is, you’re a poser. 😜💋 the poses are fun and exciting, but more than that, yoga is about love, connection, empowerment, self-confidence and blossoming. These poses wouldn’t be beautiful and warm to my heart if they didn’t carry the story behind it. The giggling and falling, the love and encouragement. When our yoga family connected on this trip, we inspired each other to thrive. We helped each other with support, spotting, guiding, inspiring and love ❤️ 💕 that’s what yoga is about. .
Yesterday I had the pleasure of leading a yoga warmup for @urbansurf4kids Hanai Mentorship Program. They provide surf lessons, mentorship and other recreational activities to foster youth. All of the volunteers are so kind and kid-centered. I look forward to next time! If you’re interested in getting involved, let me know! 🏄🏿♀️🧘🏿♀️

This is a celebratory post because today I went to IKEA and walked out with NOTHING. I don’t think that’s ever happened before 😅
(I definitely did buy things in other furniture store though 😆)
Also celebration because the first time I tried this pose (flying pigeon) was at the beginning of this year and it to make like 10 minutes to even figure out how to get in it and once I did, it felt impossible to be in it. BUT I gave it another shot the other day ^^ and it actually felt pretty easy! So 🥳🥳
What pose are you working on right now?😎

Yaaay, summer weather is back! 🥥 For me there is no better way than to start the day with my yoga practice outside; even if you don’t have much time you can easily create a morning ritual — stretching the spine, moving your body at your own rhythm, opening the heartspace, taking time to breathe and set your intentions for the day.🕊 After this I enjoy my coffee in the sun 🌞 What are your morning rituals that makes you happy?
