They Die Piece by Piece
If you're against cruelty and you look at what happens to animals in slaughterhouses and on farms, you have to be vegan!
It takes 25 minutes to turn a live cow into steak at the modern slaughterhouse where Ramon Moreno works. For 20 years, his post was "second-legger," a job that entails cutting hocks off carcasses as they whirl past at a rate of 309 an hour.
The cows were supposed to be dead before they got to Moreno. But too often they weren't.
"They blink. They make noises," he said softly. "Their heads moves, their eyes are wide and looking around."
Still Moreno would cut. On bad days, he says, dozens of animals reached his station clearly alive and conscious. Some would survive as far as the tail cutter, the belly ripper, the hide puller. "They die," said Moreno, "piece by piece."
In plants all over the United States, this happens on a daily basis," said Lester Friedlander, a veterinarian and formerly chief government inspector at a Pennsylvania hamburger plant. "I've seen it happen. And I've talked to other veterinarians. They feel it's out of control."
It's important to take into consideration that the animals start experiencing terror as soon as they are violently loaded to transportation trucks. Since many farms are in remote locations, the transportation period is often very long and grueling. So grueling that some animals don't survive it.
Once the animals arrive at the slaughterhouse, they are usually kept in holding areas, where they can easily smell the blood and sometimes even hear the screams of animals who are slaughtered. Animals may be kept for days in these holding areas, depending on the size of the slaughterhouse.
Nothing humane happens in a slaughterhouse. SLAUGHTERHOUSE▶️House of Slaughter. #belinda_vegan

Ran outta chicken and a wise man said "why eat a weak chicken, when you can eat a powerful bison!" Made sense to me! Picked up 15# of ground bison today. So my big meal for the day is a 1lb of ground bison with a 4 cups of broccoli in a big ass bowl.
I have been fortunate enough to be able to #breastfeed Alex exclusively since he was born, however, I plan to head back to work in a few short months and want to be able to continue to give him breast milk. I’ve been researching the crap out of double electric pumps so I can start a stockpile for him and I just can’t decide! I’m torn between the Medela In Style or Freestyle models - any mommas have any preference between the two (or another brand)? In the meantime, I bought this @naturebond_international#breastpump just to try out. Basically, while you’re breastfeeding your baby, you place the pump on the other side to catch any #letdown . Honestly, I did not have any real expectations for such a simple looking contraption. But holy cow you guys! This was what was caught in only 14 minutes of nursing. No extra effort, and no active “pumping”. One ounce of baby liquid gold - who woulda thought i would be so excited over breast milk, haha! If you’ve been contemplating one of these breast pumps - do it! I purchased this brand as the extra stopper and accessories are included at no extra cost. #amazing#4weekspostpartum#notanad#boobiejuice

When you feed your body, you feed your brain!
I feel like we forget that the brain is part of the body. Like we think it’s separated from everything else and isn’t directly impacted by what you do to your body like the rest of your organs.
It’s not like that though. Actually, some could argue that your brain is even more affected by what you eat than other organs in your body are because of the astounding gut-brain connection.
When you feed your body crap, you’re not only hurting your heart or your liver or your stomach or your weight or your blood sugars, you’re also affecting your brain.
Eating sugary, processed foods that lack nutrients can cause anxiety, depression, lack of focus, headaches, Moodiness, lack of energy and way way more.
You are what you eat is quite literal because what you eat affects your brain and your brain is where your thoughts and personality come from.
That’s why when people talk about how dedicating to their health changed their life, they mean it. They started showing up differently - the way they always imagined they would.
That’s why I’m super grateful for my nutritious shake 🙌🏼 super tasty, and full of everything good 🥰
Take one step to being closer to the person you want to be by making a small decision for your health today! If you’ve been on a health journey for a while, let me know how your life has TRULY been changed by your commitment your healing yourself.
JC and I recently embarked on a little mission together to shift our eating habits to a more plant based diet. When I first introduced the idea I thought JC would try a meal or two then bail out. Surprisingly he’s all on board and super stoked to learn more. 😊 What we consume has so much power over our health and the environment. I won’t be flipping out if I see a slice of ham on a plate anytime soon but I truly believe that small changes can make a huge impact on the longevity of our wellbeing. Just like working out...every step, every sweat counts 🌱
For the portobello stuffing I used 🧄🥬🧅🍅bell peppers and Japanese Panko and plant based cheese for added flavoring. It was so good and super easy 😋 -
Our health affects every aspect of our life, eat good and feel the difference in your health & energy! Just as you surround yourself with positive people vs negative, same thing it will make an impact on your life! I’ve been doing quite a few Zyto reads lately and many people are coming up with digestive issues, including myself! Your gut affects your brain so it’s important to take care of it, as your mouth health affects your immune system. Cleansing is a good way to maintain the body, it’s like spring cleaning. It can promote physical health and mental clarity. People are often looking for ways to get healthier. However, when I say cleanse, I am not referring to a detox diet that will help you drop 20 pounds in two weeks. I am referring to strategies that helps your body rid itself of toxins.
Below are a list of a few essential oils you can incorporate into your routine to enhance your cleanses and your body’s natural cleansing properties. Keep healthy peeps! 😘
Vitality oils that support cleansing:
• Cilantro Vitality- Promotes overall wellness, supports a healthy immune system, internal cleansing, and a healthy digestive system when combined with a healthy lifestyle. • Grapefruit Vitality- Grapefruit Vitality has many health benefits when taken daily, including weight management support, lymphatic system support, and cleansing properties.* • Parsley Vitality- Supports internal cleansing and has antioxidant properties. • Cumin Vitality- Cumin is a cleansing support superstar, delivering internal cleansing properties and support for your body’s most important detoxifying organs, like the liver, kidneys, and digestive system. • GLF Vitality- This blend of Grapefruit, Ledum, Helichrysum, Hyssop, Celery, and Spearmint has intestinal-cleansing benefits and helps support healthy gallbladder and liver function. • Juvacleanse Vitality- Juvacleanse was formulated with Helichrysum, Ledum, and Celery Seed essential oils to have cleansing properties, to help support digestion and to support a healthy immune system, and complements other Juva products, including JuvaFlex®, JuvaPower®, JuvaSpice®, and JuvaTone®.

LOVE KOSO STYLE
～You are what you eat～
Ok idk if it’s because it took so much time to make since every bit was from scratch, or because I was craving chicken salad for over a week and finally got to eat some; but this sandwich is SO FRICKEN DELICIOUS and I can’t get enough of it.
Let’s start with the mayo:
Homemade mayonnaise -pasture raised eggs
-fresh squeezed lime juice
And the sandwich: -powerseed bread
- sliced avocado
-spring mix greens
-homemade mayonnaise (see other post for ingredients)
-shredded pasture raised chicken
Breakfast or for a snack, oats are typically my go to. They just satisfy me, you know? This one really hit the spot. Just a bowl of tahini date oatmeal topped with bananas, blueberries and date syrup. Both the tahini and date syrup are from @soomfoods and I’m obsessed as usual (if you need a discount, check out my profile link). 🥣 I have to try and remember if there is a day I actually go without tahini. Nothing comes to mind. 🤔
Tahini Date Oatmeal
1/2 cup rolled oats
1 tbsp tahini
1/4 tsp cinnamon
Pinch of salt
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
2 medjool dates, pitted and diced
Add all ingredients to a sauce pan and bring to a simmer. Stir and allow ingredients to thicken and cook for 5 minutes. Remove from stove and serve with extra fruit and date syrup. 🤤
Mushroom Penne with Walnut Pesto
Simple Mushroom Penne with Walnut Pesto – made with easy ingredients like Parmesan cheese, whole wheat penne, mushrooms, garlic, and butter. Vegetarian.
FOR THE PASTA
8 ounces penne pasta (I like to use whole wheat)
4 tablespoons LAND O LAKES® European Style Super Premium Butter
16 ounces fresh sliced mushrooms
1/4 cup grated or shaved Parmesan cheese
salt, pepper, and fresh parsley for topping
FOR THE WALNUT PESTO
1 cup walnuts
1 1/2 cups packed greens (spinach, basil, parsley, anything you like – but keep some basil for a more traditional pesto flavor)
1/2 to 3/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup olive oil
1 clove garlic
juice of 1 lemon
salt and pepper to taste
Cook the penne pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
Toast the walnuts in a small sauté pan over low heat with no butter or oil – stir and shake the pan until the walnuts are fragrant and toasty (about 5 minutes). In a food processor, combine all the ingredients for the walnut pesto and pulse until mostly smooth.
Heat the butter over medium heat in a wide skillet. Add the mushrooms and saute for 8-10 minutes, until the mushrooms are a deep golden brown. Add the penne pasta to the pan and stir to combine, adding Parmesan, salt, pepper, and fresh parsley or other herbs to taste.
Divide the pasta between 4-6 bowls and top with a generous spoonful of the walnut pesto OR stir the walnut pesto directly into the pasta.

Are you brave enough to add a little veggie to your breakfast? 🙃 I know it’s not everyone’s jam, but man I love veggies and want to make everyone a veggie lover. I feel they are misunderstood and so under appreciated for all the amazing things they help us with. 🥕
I’m not much of a veggie sneaker because I think people should know what they are eating and treat it normally. If anything I like to be creative with my veggies and find fun ways to enjoy them. For example, I love using zucchini to fluff up my oats and it helps me start my day off strong. 💪🏽Zoats are one of my favs and it’s been far too long since my last bowl. 😌
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/4 tsp cinnamon
Pinch of salt
1 tsp chia seeds
1/2 small zucchini, grated
2 tbsp coconut cream
1 cup unsweetened almond
Combine all ingredients in a sauce pan and bring to a simmer. Stir and cook for about 5 minutes or until oats are nice and fluffy. Adjust salt to taste and if needed, feel free to sweeten. Love to add some extra nut butter and fruit on top of mine for more flavor. ❤️
WHO DO YOU GET YOUR HEALTH INFO FROM? My opinion on this is… controversial
9 months ago I would have said “only take nutrition info from a Registered Dietitian” but now, I can’t say that confidently.
Ever since I’ve been in the coaching world, I’ve realized there are a lot of coaches with no formal training doing really life-changing work for clients. I also see and hear stories of doctors and dietitians who promote false information and reinforce disordered eating behaviors. For the most part, I don’t blame these providers as much as I blame the medical system at large for teaching weight bias and completely ignoring ED research, HAES, and weight stigma research.
I do think that when it comes to nutrition, you should go to an RD *first* to get an opinion because RD’s are the experts in nutritional science, but I also know that it isn’t always an option for everyone. Maybe there’s a health coach who resonates with you, and intuitive eating counselor you like, or a doctor who has also studied nutrition that you want to see.
Whoever you decide to follow or listen to, here’s a list of questions to ask yourself:
1️⃣ Do they cite peer-reviewed research? Do they talk about professional ethics? ✅
2️⃣ Does their message / approach feel intuitively right to you ✅ or does it make you feel ashamed, like you’re not doing enough? ❌
3️⃣ Do they give you specific instructions for what to do without consideration for your lifestyle ❌ or do they give you guidelines while teaching you how to listen to your own body? ✅
4️⃣ Do you follow them because they provide useful, evidence-based info ✅ or do you follow them because they have a body type you want? ❌
5️⃣ Do they mention things like systemic inequalities, stigma, and genetics when talking about health ✅ or do they talk about health like it’s entirely about what you eat? ❌
6️⃣ Do they recommend completely cutting out foods even if not medically-necessary ❌ or do they take a more moderate, all-food-fit kind of approach? ✅
At the end of the day, you are the expert of your body. RD’s and health professionals are your guides. I hope this empowers you to think critically about who you follow
