Anyone else here hapa? More than one ethnicity? [Read 👇🏽]⠀
The most amusing question for me growing up was 'What are you?' No one could quite pin my not-quite-green, not-quite-hazel eyes. My olive skin but vaguely filipina nose. I used to make it a game as a kid. 'I'm Italian!' I'd say one day. '8 different ethnicities. Guess!' the next. Just to see what would stick. I'd go back and forth – 'white, 'asian, 'white,' 'asian' – on standardized tests. But through it all, I'm proud to say that growing up hapa in Hawaii was something celebrated. It can be incredibly confusing to be multi-racial, and I've never felt 'fully' one or the other. But I'm happy to know I grew up with a sense of pride for whatever ingredients happened to get mixed together to make me, me. ⠀
📍 All this to say – one of the things I loved most about Singapore was the coexisting cultural neighborhoods throughout. I'm not talking about your local Chinatown (though there was that too, and I'm standing in it!). I'm talking about Indian, Arab, Chinese, Malay, you name it – so many cultures together, in one place, coexisting like it was nothing. ⠀
Identity in Singapore is an interesting thing. You have Singaporean-Chinese, Singaporean-Malay, Singaporean-Indian, Perenakan, the expats... and most everyone speaks English, but also Mandarin, and Malay, and Tamil... (it goes on). I think almost anyone can find a piece of 'home' in Singapore because of this. And to me, this glorious mish-mash of cultures and languages and neighborhoods coexisting was like music to my ears as someone who spent years getting asked 'what ARE you?' when the answer was always 'what am I NOT? #OffDutyinSingapore
There is no greater guidance than listening to your heart. Have courage, and know your heart will guide you safely. Listen, feel the trees sway in the wind. A flower grows. A sound is heard. Listen...your heart yearns to follow rainbows. Follow your heart...💙❤️

This time last year.
I’m so desperate for a haircut that I’ve resorted to going through old photos and staring at pics of myself looking fresh after a barbershop visit.
The Sri Srinivasa Perumal temple in the Little India district of Singapore. The temple itself dates from the 1850s but the Gopuram showing the incarnations of Lord Vishnu was built over a century later in 1966 thanks to the donations of a local Indian philanthropist.

The official mascot of the nation, Singapore Merlion. Its name combines "mer", meaning the sea, and "lion". The fish body represents Singapore's origin as a fishing village when it was called Temasek, which means "sea town" in Japanese. The strangest fact still remains that merlion is 1 year older than singapore. Yep, you read that right. The official work on merlion started in 1963, was adopted as the official logo in 1964 and Singapore became a nation in 1965.
This merlion in the pic is the biggest in the country with over 37 mts tall, located in sentosa.
Trivia: Singapore's original name was singapura, can you translate what It means?

My fifth entry for the #dronefromhomeffa contest.
Second post and shot by @hugo.visuals. Chose this one out of all the photos he shared because of how minimal and clean it is. Really amazing drone shot. Something I would love to try in future. Gotta stop doubting myself and thinking I can’t do a certain something before even attempting it. Who knows? It might be the one thing that changes your future.
This photo was pretty challenging even tho it looks the simplest because I tried so hard to nail the blue tones to my eyes. Also had to experiment with the glowing effect from the right as well and not making it too drastic before making it into photoshop to add the text and the gradient effect. Hope y’all liked this one.
Do not self-doubt.
