The Sanctuary of the Pilgrim ( Sahagún , León , Spain ) is located on the outskirts of the town . It sits on a hill, which is the highest point of the town, at 845 meters above sea level , from where you can see the extensive plain of the Sahagun region , to its borders in the Cantabrian mountain range in the north, the region of Tierra de Campos by the south, and by the west they are able to be seen, in moderately clear days, the mountains of Leon .
It was a Franciscan convent founded around 1257 .
