[Dec 2019] Plitvice
[“It is easier to be happy if you look beyond imperfections than seeking happiness by trying too hard to make everything perfect.”]
Plitvice Lakes had been in my bucket list ever since @itskevinli visited 6 years ago. This magical park overflows with turquoise waters and infinite waterfalls. There are multiple sections, including upper and lower falls; also within the park, there are longer and shorter hikes, so you really need at least a day, if not two! to fully enjoy the park.
In the winter, they close off some sections of the park; like Krka, the ticket price is dramatically cheaper. I was worried we wouldn't be able to see anything...and almost felt we shouldn't go because we wouldn’t be able to fully enjoy the park. But divine intervention had it so that we came into the park RIGHT after a fresh snow. The results were even better than my dreams...I felt like I was in a winter fairytale. There were some icy parts, but I kept pinching myself to make sure it was still real. I'll still have to come back during summertime, but was more than satisfied with our visit ☺ More to come in the next couple posts :)
❤️ The Irish National War Memorial Gardens is an Irish war memorial in Dublin, dedicated "to the memory of the 49,400 Irish soldiers who gave their lives in the Great War, 1914–1918", out of over 300,000 Irishmen who served in all armies.
The Memorial Gardens also commemorate all other Irish men and women who at that time served, fought and died in Irish regiments of the Allied armies
It felt like a miracle to find a refuge such as The Calanques (coves) only a short distance from grimy, pressured Marseille. it was easy to believe we’re miles from civilisation. The area brings together imposing uplands, coves plunging narrowly to almost-inaccessible fishing towns and swimming spots, and endless kilometres of fantastic, scenic hiking.
