🎉Happy Birthday Cooper!🎉
Cooper is seven years old today, which is 49 in doggo years.
We picked out Cooper as a puppy on new year’s day 2013, the day after Matt and I got engaged. He was one of a litter of eight black lab puppies. Neither of us had any previous experience of owning dogs, so we were excited and nervous to bring him home in early January. On his first night Matt had to sleep downstairs with him as Cooper whimpered for his siblings, but it didn’t last long.
Since then, Cooper has shown himself to be the softest, handsomest, most intelligent Labrador you will ever meet. He has many names; Coop, Coopy, Coops, Coopertron, the Saxon Knight (his pedigree name) and sometimes the Beast of Broomfield if he’s been a bit naughty.
We feel so lucky to have Cooper, and as he starts to go very grey around the muzzle, in between his pads and on his chest, I get a lump in my throat every time I start to think of him getting old. He is simply our wonderful boy, and if you’ve met him you’ll know what I mean.
Tonight he’ll be enjoying his favourite dinner of cheesy pasta and chicken, and a play with one of his many tennis balls. Happy birthday Cooper! 🖤
Well I can’t give Oscar a sibling at the moment, but what I can do is give him a best friend for life! And from the research I have done, Labradors are the best pets for children with Autism. I hope he soothes your wonderful soul. 🐶
