Last night a dream finally came true....... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
With space weather looking flat calm and the clearest skies I've ever seen here, I thought attempt number 5 to see it at Jokulsarlon would be dashed.....then chums in aurora groups I'm in started to tag me saying there was a change it was picking up....We'd left the lagoon and got 20 mins north for dinner, I could see the stats dropping, knowing that the clearest night might be giving quite a show....we finished quickly, the poor lads with a magmatic hot fish pie may not have the insides of their mouths now. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As we started to pull up it was so visible from the car. I ran up a hill that looks over the lagoon set my tripod up and then this happened. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I can't believe it. I have always wanted to shoot it here as this iceberg lagoon and aurora just say Iceland to me. It's special to me as it's the first place I ever saw the aurora 5 years ago. But it was weak, through loads of cloud and the full moon was blowing everything out. Then 3 times it's been cloudy, once the road conditions were so bad we turned back and then I was desperately ill with a tummy bug here last aug, looked out when I went to the loo and the skies were wildly full with aurora and I couldn't go out.....it really has been the one that got away.
The 70% moon was rising too that gave all of the icebergs a little light so they could join in the show too. I feel slightly floaty today, I can't believe we witnessed this last night for about an hour. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What does this remind me? That sometimes the good things are worth the wait and continually attempting and not giving up can make those dreams come true. 💜⠀⠀⠀⠀

I was so excited to see the Trevi Fountain. I had heard so much about it's beauty and I couldn't wait!
Finally, after touring all of Italy, our last stop was Rome. The city has amazing monuments but this fountain was my personal favourite.
The evening we touched down in Rome, we headed straight for the Trevi Fountain. As I walked towards Piazza di Trevi, I heard the gushing water way before the fountain actually came into view. And when I finally saw it, all brilliantly lit up and pure white, it took my breath away. I stood in awe of this gorgeous piece of architecture for so long.
The fountain is called so because it stands at the junction of three roads (Tre Vie) and it's Italian name - Fontana di Trevi literally translates to the Fountain of Three Streets.
After marveling at this colossal beauty from a distance I finally went up close to keep up with its tradition of wishing upon pennies. According to legend, with your back to the fountain, throwing a coin into the water with your right hand over your left shoulder, ensures your return to Rome and so that's exactly what I did!
The next day, I made my way back to this iconic fountain to see it in daylight and it was stunning. I sat by the water, watching tourists come and go for at least an hour and that's when I captured the above picture.
But let me be honest, no picture does it justice. I urge you to witness this beauty with your own eyes and it'll definitely leave you spellbound ✨
