Why are we all Pets of the Week? We are all Pet Insurance Poster Pups!
Brady (left) was recently treated for an upset tummy, a urinary tract infection, AND an ear infection! His family is very happy they insured him as a puppy!
Caramel (top right) is a new puppy, whose Mom chose to insure her immediately, because she had already seen the value, when her previous dog, Roscoe (also insured) endured a devastating and costly liver disease.
Lionel (bottom right) was insured at 8 weeks of age, and has not any large claims, but between his 2 cat brothers, their insurance policy is helping to treat hyperthyroidism, bladder stones, and asthma! 😮 #petoftheweek#saugusanimalhospital#petinsurance
PSA. Commit it to memory folks — it comes on FAST — just happened to us. Elvis exhibited paranoia and wouldn’t come into the house when called and was skulking about in the yard and hiding behind plants. He had a weakness in his back legs and was walking unsteady but was still willing to play/run and be chased like an idiot. Once he was in my lap in his exercise pen he laid his head heavily on my legs while he panted excessively. #1 key sign at the vet we’re his pee dribbles on the floor. Gotta love houseguests for the holidays! First emergency vet clinic visit... because of course this never happen during usual vet business hours. #expensive#nopot#petinsurance#justsayno#dogsandmarijuanadontmix#lagottoromagnolo#halfjoint#fml
Exempted Dogs - HEALTH/Illness/Veterinary Insurance Cover:
. . .
Back in March 2014 we reported that this was now available for the first time from Brooks Braithwaite (Sussex) Ltd - there had previously been no policy available for health cover on an exempted dog, as far as we are aware.
We've had it confirmed by the provider that this is being withdrawn and Brooks Braithwaite have informed us that they have started withdrawing the health cover policies for exempted dogs and that all their customers are/will be aware that they will not be renewing policies. They have stated that this type of cover is being stopped due to the very small demand and they will continue to offer cover for public liability for exempted dogs.
If you are aware of an insurance provider for health/illness/veterinary - for an exempted dog - please send DDA Watch the details. 🐾🐾🐾 #exempteddog#endbsluk#ddawatch#dangerousdogsact#doginsurance#petinsurance#veterinary#notobsl#doglaw#exempteddogsuk#putbsltosleep#breedspecificlegislation#pitbulladvocate
Pets live in the moment - they're not worried about what happened yesterday or what may happen tomorrow, they're solely focused on the present.
It's thought that being around this can make a person more mindful, meaning their attention is brought to the present and therefore not dwelling on negative thoughts linked to things they can't change in the past or future.
Happy Caturday Spokane! We are getting pet insurance on this Ragdoll cat, Leland who is Phil’s fur baby. This will help cover all sorts of things, especially an unexpected trips to the vet. I’m sure most of us have had one of those. Comment with a personality description of your awesome pet. Example: Leland loves to ride around on Phil’s shoulders and is incredibly talkative, though he can turn from purring to claws on very short notice!

Isn’t it great??! 🐶 😊

⚠️Cleaning solutions, antifreeze, fragrance sprays and other common household #chemicals are often stored under sinks or on garage shelves where pets can gain easy access. Be sure there is adequate ventilation when using any chemicals, thoroughly wipe up any spills, tightly close any bottles or containers and stow them safely in cabinets that pets cannot pry open. ✅ Create a safe environment for your pet by keeping these chemicals out of reach.
Include your pets in the Thanksgiving feasting! Sweet potatoes, pumpkin, unseasoned white turkey meat, green beans, and cooked broccoli are all safe, pet-friendly options for dogs and cats. Avoid adding sugars and fats to keep it waist-friendly as well. 🍗
I had a thought. It was prompted by this cutie and his experience at rehab yesterday. (Background: Bear had a significant injury a couple years ago that resulted in 4 surgeries and over a year of rehab- he still gets maintenance therapy weekly/monthly for his injuries. Let’s put it this way: #PetInsurance@trupanion is worth every penny.) •
Yesterday was @beaverdalebear ‘s day in the Underwater Treadmill, but we were concerned about the front paw he had been favoring. Dr. Peterson checked him out when he arrived, and turns out he had a nasty hot spot in between his toes and foot pad, so he wasn’t able to get in the tank. It’s important to note that Dr. P isn’t his family pet- she’s his rehab vet (even though she also owns a family vet practice up the street.) She didn’t say “I don’t do wound care, you will need to go schedule with your family vet,” which would have taken a few days at the least. (And it’s a weekend.) Instead, they gave him a medical exam, medication and treatment- to make him feel better NOW. And again, she isn’t even his family vet. None of that mattered to them, just that he got the care he needed and didn’t have to be uncomfortable any longer.
Imagine if healthcare was like that. I cannot even tell you how many times I’ve gone to a provider with an acute issue to only have them say “I can’t help you with that, you need to schedule with your neurologist (or podiatrist, or rheumatologist, or internist, or insert here.)” Proceed to wait 6+ months to see the provider that could maybe help me with my *still acute* issue. (Quite honestly the wait is often much longer.)
Anyway, I don’t know the answer but it did give me pause. Weekend thoughts I suppose. Thanks for reading them. #ThisIsMS#ChronicIllness#ChronicDisease#Healthcare
Rescue dogs come in all sorts of varieties. You can give me a mixed breed Mutt any day, I love the individuality and uniqueness of a pavement special.
For the more discerning potential dog adopter, there are always plenty of pedigree dogs looking for homes too.
Darsey and Isla we’re adopted after their owners emigrated and couldn’t/wouldn’t (I’m never really sure which is the real option) take them with.
Now they’re @dotsurepetsa stars! Check out @spanielwelfaresa if you’re looking for a new friend 🧡
