I am not rock, I am not rain
I'm just another shadow in the stream
That's been washed away after all these years
I am not rocks in the river
I am bursting in tears for it
And the day is dawning ‹Ryan Adams›

Casa particular literally means "private house" but it started to be used to mean "private accommodation" in 1997, when the Cuban government allowed Cubans to rent out rooms in their houses or apartments to tourists, providing Cuban families with new sources of income. Most Americans are only allowed to stay in casa particulares or select hotels since 2017.
As any other type of accommodation in Cuba such as hotels, camping and motels were owned by the government, the term "casa particular" stated that this kind of paid lodging was privately operated. Most casas provide breakfast that’s either included or you have to pay a small price.

VENICE: THE FLOATING CITY
Venice is one of the world’s oldest tourist and cultural centres. It is composed by a group of 118 small islands that are separated by canals and linked by over 400 bridges. This island city was once a major maritime power and an important center of commerce.
From 697 to 1797, the city was historically the capital of the Republic of Venice, traditionally known as La Serenissima: the most serene or sublime. During this period, this island city was the centre of the maritime republic and one of most important commercial and cultural link with the earthen countries.

THE ETERNAL CITY - ROMAN FORUM
It’s a large archeological site surrounded by the ruins of the most important buildings and monuments of the Ancient Rome.
For centuries, it was the centre of public and political life in the city: the site of important ceremonies, criminal trials, public speeches and gladiatorial combats (even the funeral of Julius Caesar took place here). In addition, it was the nucleus of commercial affairs, with shops and open-air markets.
After the fall of the Roman Empire, the area fell into decline and many of its monuments were buried under debris and plundered for stone and marble. The remains of the ancient buildings were used for the construction of feudal towers/castles and the land became pasture for livestock. It wasn’t until the 18th century that the site was rediscovered.
Nowadays, it’s considered the most impressive archaeological site in the Eternal City, attracting more than 4.5 million visitors every year. A visit to the Roman Forum offers a unique insight into the lives, politics and beliefs of the Ancient Romans.

Come along and ride this rain

For there's a meaning to all the flowers
They tell a story that never lies!
This purple heather, means lonely hours
And tulips weep for a love that dies! ‹Perry Como›

Tempered by greed, tall buildings breathe
Give a sigh of relief when it`s night
Stirring from sleep, we night owls creep
Is there any sign of life under this stone
Star chime hollow and true. ‹Erasure›

Free, as a bird
It's the next best thing to me
Free as a bird
Home, home and dry
Like a homing bird I'll fly
Like a bird on wings ‹John Lennon›
