2 257 July, 2020
We’ve been hoping for a UK break for months - like everyone - patiently sticking to the rules, watching the updates, wondering how travel will change post-covid. In April we had a weekend booked in our favourite place for my husbands birthday but that was cancelled. We wanted to make it back there for our wedding anniversary but it wasn’t to be, so we were looking forward to august or maybe July.
When we found out some of our best friends had booked a week there and wanted us to go too, we spent a couple of days searching and managed to get a cancellation and YEY ‘were off to Cornwall’ and no matter what’s open or closed when we get there, we’ll get to see our friends (socially distanced of course). But guess what? Our friends were coming from Leicester and, yep, Leicester is locked down. So they can’t go.
This whole situation is utterly bonkers isn’t it? And while all that matters is keeping people safe and saving lives, the whole local lockdown thing makes you wonder how long this is all going to rumble on for and how travel will look long term
I fully expect that not much will be open in Cornwall while we’re there but I’m happy to just hang out at our accommodation and have a change of four walls as I’m going a bit stir crazy at home
Hopefully we’ll get to see our friends another time. And luckily we know a few other people there at the same time. I’m just gutted for them that another holiday has been cancelled
How has lockdown affected your travels?

All my package holidays are booked through ABTA/ATOL bonded suppliers for your peace of mind ✅
Have you heard of ABTA or ATOL. You should have! They are the GOLD STANDARD in the UK travel industry. If you are booking a package holiday (combined flights & hotel), ensuring they are covered by the ABTA and ATOL industry schemes gives you an enhanced level of protection if anything goes wrong.
All package holidays booked with me are protected by BOTH schemes.
I've heard many horror stories of holidays not protected by ABTA or ATOL. Often unforseen events (like Coronavirus!) ruin holidays.
Have you had a package holiday affected by the pandemic or other event? Was it protected by ABTA/ATOL. Did you get your money back? I'd love hear about your disrupted holiday experiences.... PS: ABTA/ATOL protection is included for FREE with all my package holidays. ✅
