Lazy Saturday in the country filled with friends and family. What could be better? Add a swing set and Blondie -a big, happy, 14 year old doggy- who supposedly belongs to the neighbors, ☺ and you've got the perfect setting for a summer's day!
No one ever said embarking on a new journey was going to be easy but they do say that is it always worth it! .
The best blessings in life come with change and cause us to transition from who we were to who we are going to become..... but it would be foolish of me not acknowledge that sometimes even those blessings can feel both abrupt and satisfying at the same time. .
As I set forth on my own journey of transition, I have days where I could use the safe feeling of structured routine... a schedule, work, and completing the everyday little tasks that set me up for success for the rest of the week. Of course though, it’s not quite as exciting as creating a new adventure everyday and learning through those experiences...no matter how “hard” they may seem in the moment. .
Paulo Coehlo says it best “You have to take risks. We will only understand the miracle of life fully when we allow the unexpected to happen.” .
So here’s to the unexpected, to growth, and to change as @l.u.c.k.y_19 and I embark on our new adventure 👉@themahoganyroads 👈 #staytuned#travelblogger#travellove#rvlife#crosscountry#ontheroad#adventureenthusiasts#ustravel#travelvets#militaryretired#veteranlife#travelphotography#storyteller#followyourbliss
Where oh where should I go? While I've put all of my travel plans on hold for the time being, I'm still dreaming of all the destinations to travel to both near and far.
In Cairo, Nebraska you'll find this tall black way marker pole with arrows pointing to major cities in the United States and around the world, such as Seattle, New York, Phoenix, Athens, London, Paris, and Minneapolis.

Is there anything more iconic than the kissing camels at the Garden of the Gods?!? Given to the city of Colorado Springs in 1909 with the provision that it remains a free park, which it is today!! There are a ton of great trails and fantastic sites in the park, and it’s all completely free!! Have you been to Garden of the Gods?
Within Zilker Park's 358 acres lies one of the crown jewels of Austin - Barton Springs Pool. The pool itself measures three acres in size, and is fed from underground springs with an average temperature of 68-70 degrees, ideal for year-round swimming. Depths of the pool range from 0’ to 18' with surrounding grassy areas for patrons to lounge upon. You can also enjoy more active options in the Lady Bird Lake Hike and Bike Trail.⠀

We stopped in one of my favorite US states this week, New Mexico.
If you don't know much about NM, think of the desert with breathtaking mountains and SO much culture and history. Plus, you can get some really authentic and amazing Mexican cuisine (one of my many favorite cuisines!) Now that's adventure that feeds the soul!

Detroit was a major part of the Underground Railroad (which is an underground route that enabled slaves in America to escape slavery and find freedom and safety). The Gateway to Freedom monument in Detroit commemorates a major site where slaves escaped to Canada to freedom- it is estimated about 45,000 slaves escaped via this route once Canada abolished slavery in 1834.
Unfortunately today in America, systemic racism continues to be a massive problem that needs to be dealt with. It was an honor to visit this historic site to learn about our history and learn from it.
As an interracial married couple, we have a unique position of being able to discuss our experiences, fears, and pain from two TOTALLY different perspectives and we are able to constantly learn from each other. We have both come to appreciate and become very knowledgeable on understanding the problems in America and doing things to fix them.
If you’re reading this, please do your part wherever you are in the world to love other people, whether they look different than you or if they have different opinions than you. We can all do better! -Please speak up when you see something wrong.
-Check your biases.
-Surround yourself with people different than you. Converse with them about their experiences. Empathize with them.
-Particularly, if you are in a position of privilege, use your voice to speak up. Silence is seen as agreement with injustice.
-We are all human after all. Let’s treat each other with love and respect. 📍Gateway To Freedom, Detroit, Michigan, USA

Another national park that is utterly incredible to visit and see in person is #zionnationalpark !
I stopped in Zion for a few days during my road trip from Vegas a few years ago. The red rocks and formations are unbelievable to see in person. The energy you feel within the park is out of this world! That road trip is one of my most memorable trips to date because I felt so connected to Mother Nature. I’m in just awe of the beauty within Utah.
